Default Schnorkel For Type XVIII?

Somehow I have to believe that if the Germans had gotton so far as to actually build an '18, they would have included a Schnorkel with it.

Any mods exist that address this?

I made an old one:hmm:
It should work, but you would have to use the search function.

If you want I make a type XXI, so no H2O2 engine, with snorkel.

When you wanna play superman with the Walter Turbine, you have to find it.

It most certainly did need the device. Just because it could dodge surface ASW of the time, does not mean it was invincible against airborne ASW. These boats were designed to operate more efficiently under water, which meant running on batteries. Charging on the surface exposed these boats to airborn attack.

The addition of the snorkel was an essential thing had this boat actually made it to service. (which it kinda did, just in the form of the type XXI)

The Type XXVIII didn't have the underwater endurance of a Type XXI. The Walther engine was never able to be worthwhile in range or dependability and the Type XXVIII program was scrapped in favor of the Type XXI. I'd MUCH rather see a Type XXI (with snorkel) in SH4 than the Type XXVIII fantasy boat.

That could make me very happy that Operation Monsun is installed (and uninstalled) by JSGME. I'd be switching that puppy in and out frequently to play the Type XXI!

Well maybe they were thinking "Now we're doing an alternative scenario - let's put some of the alternative boats in it ... that way we can save the cool Type VII and the amazing Type XXI for the Atlantic Silent Hunter game that we will be making VERY VERY SOON!".

Ah hell, I'm a dreamer!
