It looks to me the boiler plate is for Societe Des Moteurs Gnome but I can't find the right crankcase shape. It does look like a monosoupape type rotary.

The design looks like the Gnome Rohne monosoupape except for the crankcase not being circular, plus there doesn't seem to be anybody else developing a seven cylinder rotary that looks even close. The internet is a failure!!!

Pre-war is right, if not 1913. Not a Gnôme, said before?

Not the Seguin Brothers either. What you all got right is that it is a seven-cylinder engine, and the intake tubes are on the "back/firewall" side, ruling out certain models. Though this engine was also mounted on a 'pusher' type at least once as i read. Hint: earlier than 1911

Societe des Moteurs Salmson?
Looks like the right crankcase style but photos are scarce.

Non ..
To be true i had not heard before that this company ever built aircraft engines, but it seemed a logical step at the time, especially when the war began. I am not even sure how much horsepower this thing produced, reports vary. There's not so much left, you should have it soon..

I just read that the gents inventing this engine named their company "... le Rhone", but this was 3 years after this engine was invented.
Information is really hard to come by, all the beginnings are hidden in the mist of history. Another hint: Connnected with the construction of automobiles.
