Default (REQ) Japanese submarine units

Im working on a small side project relatet to SH IV and trying to find some info about Japanese submarine units doing WW2

I have tryed google, but most sites are about the Bio unit etc. Im looking for information on the sub units, like the German flotillas.

example

here are 20 submarines

I-15, I-17, I-19, I-21, I-23, I-25, I-26, I-27, I-28, I-29, I-30, I-31, I-32, I-33, I-34, I-35, I-36, I-37, I-38, I-39

But i cant realy find information about what units they belonged to or the structure they worked in...

How did the IJN structure the submarine units??

Realy hope there is a IJN history buf who can help me out

Have you tried combinedfleet.com?

I know that there aren't any flotilla listings, but the tabular records of movement they have for each sub should mention which flotilla they belonged to.

You could also try to get a hold of this book:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Japanese-Sub...859865&sr=8-10

More than likely you'd need to go secondhand for it, but it gives a history of what the force did, and IIRC, it gives some details on how it was organised.

Hope that helps,

Mike.

tx for the reply. Well all it took was some digging out. History are mostly made from the travel logs, not the units by them self. So if you look at the individual sub information is plenty but not much on the overall structure. But found out, making something my self....

Tx again
