How often should I refresh the data before I shoot?

1st get the track of the convoy/target
2nd get the speed of the convoy/target
3rd get into firing position.
4th do several checks on range (3min 15 sec apart... meaning you have an updated speed
5 attack..

Cause the Germans didn't have a PK it is in some manners easier to plan an attack b4. or even target several ships at the same time. The German device only calculated the lead angle and giro angle for the torpedo.

I found that once you got the track, this takes like 13mins (4 points). you can effectively use sonar to fire the torps. I do take more readings but only to get a better solution. Usually my track is 50-100 metres off. Not that big of a change in solution.

In short stalk your prey for like 15 mins (4 readings, equals speed and track)

then get into your attack position (Early war like 500-700 meters away from impact point, later further up to 2km)
wait for the prey to come past your firing point and release the fish.

I appreceate the help, however ,after suffering way too many misses with both the method you prescribed,And trying the Dick O'Kane method( it seems that no matter what I did,the darn torps kept passing at the bow & stern),I decided that Manual targeting just ain't worth the hassle.I'm sorry ,but I'm going back to auto targeting.Again, thanks for the help.

use the attack map to check your settings. Do manual targeting with map updates. It's easy to check your solution.

That's the spirit. In SH3 I've done attacks with no bearings of my own. Just asked WO. Then with 30 mins shadowing I'd flank past and took up positions
