Coronavirus, why do Chinese die at such higher proportions to the rest of the world? Besides a dysfunctional government and a non existent health care system. Air pollution, it compromises the average citizens respiratory system. Its so bad being able able to see the moon and the stars at night are something they have only read about.

Electric cars with remote electrical generation and most importantly mining, specifically Cu to make it happen is the wave of the future baby.

Japan confirms two more coronavirus cases.
Quote:
One patient is an administrative assistant with the ministry who had been working on the Diamond Princess cruise ship, where hundreds of infections have been confirmed.

The other is a nurse in her 40s who had been treating a woman in her 80s infected with the virus in Kanagawa prefecture, officials there said. The elderly woman later died, becoming the first person in Japan to be killed by the virus.

You solve the initial microdust problems in the big cities, but the energy will still have to be produced somewhere. As long as they depend on coal the problem will persist.

They have recently computed how much copper would be needed in Germany alone to build enough charging stations - in one word: impossible.

Jeezus, that's bad. If this virus gets out in the general public, it will spread fast.

Neal, it's already spreading around Japan. Several nurses, doctors, patients, and a handful of taxi drivers from different cities (none connected with the Diamond Princess) have already tested positive. Others are also infected (I think the total now is around 54 confirmed). When one remembers the incubation period is up to 24 days, the virus can survive on surfaces for up to 10 days, plus the virus is 3-4 times more infectious than influenza, I'm expecting the number of confirmed infected in Japan to skyrocket within the next few weeks once symptoms begin to show. I'm afraid this is only the beginning and the calm before the storm. I also have doubts about the 2020 Olympics.

We must also remember that China currently has 780 million citizens either in lock down or under strict travel restrictions. That's almost half of their population! Must be one bad virus. If it weren't, I don't think they would risk destroying their economy.

Two more confirmed infected in Tokyo.
Quote:
The Tokyo government says a salaryman in his 30s and a limousine driver in his 60s who lives near Tokyo were also confirmed to have been infected with the virus.

This isn't the Tokyo 2020 Olympics that one doesn't start till July 24th

https://sports.yahoo.com/tokyo-marat...1454--spt.html

TOKYO (AP) -- Tokyo Marathon organizers drastically reduced the number of participants for this year's race on Monday out of fear of the spread of the virus coming from China.

Quote:
The general public is being barred from the race on March 1. It will now be limited to a few hundred elite participants, organizers said in a brief statement.

''We cannot continue to launch the event within the scale we originally anticipated and we regret to inform you the following: The Tokyo Marathon 2020 will be held only for the marathon elites and the wheelchair elites,'' organizers said.

The Tokyo Marathon is the city's annual race and not to be confused with the Olympic marathon that will take place during the 2020 Tokyo Games. Those races are to be held in the northern city of Sapporo.

The marathon is the latest large sports event to be impacted by the virus. Almost all sports events in China over the next few months have been called off, including next month's world indoor track and field championships and a Formula One race in April.
The regular Olympics open on July 24 with about 11,000 athletes participating.

Where there is a will there is a way. Copper is not the only conductor of electricity. There are conductive polymers, aluminum who knows what else. When demand increases and people figure there is money to be made. I'd bet they'll come up with alternatives. Still though, if there isn't enough to go around for everyone to have a car. May be more delivery services, cleaner efficient mass transit systems or it will just force people to get off their lazy arses and walk or bicycle to the store

Im not a big fan of this everyone must believe in man made global warming thing. But when it comes to the general health and welfare of our fellow man I can get behind that. Just think if China spent their wealth on things like that instead of building piles of dirt in the ocean. We might not be dealing with viruses that kill people on a global scale

I can't begin to imagine how those on that ship who are as yet unaffected must be feeling.

They now admit that a cruise ship is not the best place to quarantine people suspected of having the virus.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/th...sLy?li=BBnb7Kz

Quote:
“The quarantine on the ship ended up being an unprecedented failure,” said Eiji Kusumi, a doctor specializing in infectious diseases at Navitas Clinic in Tokyo. “We should learn from this lesson that a quarantine on a ship is impossible, and we should not repeat this in the future.”
plus the 14 US passengers that tested positive for the virus were removed by air now makes America one of the largest countries with the virus outside of Asia.

Hubei doctors warn of even deadlier coronavirus reinfection causing sudden heart attacks.
Quote:
“It’s highly possible to get infected a second time. A few people recovered from the first time by their own immune system, but the meds they use are damaging their heart tissue, and when they get it the second time, the antibody doesn’t help but makes it worse, and they die a sudden death from heart failure,” reads a message forwarded to Taiwan News from a relative of one of the doctors living in the United Kingdom.
Quote:
Also, the source said that false negative tests for the virus are fairly common. “It can fool the test kit – there were cases that they found, the CT scan shows both lungs are fully infected but the test came back negative four times. The fifth test came back positive.”

Leaked phone interview with Wuhan funeral home staffer.

Damn. The funeral home worker claims that death certificates show 38% died in hospitals and 61% died at home. This shows how quickly the virus can overwhelm a health care system.
