Default Philharmonic Concert Hall Berlin

Drone is controlled via VR. Cool! Haben will!

A cocnert hall with one of the best accoustic characteristics in the world: not the very best, but one of the very best: they rank it usually amonst the 5 or 6 best in the world.

I was there a few times. Two highlights: what many claim to be Oscar Peteterson's best live concert ever (his band was in brilliant playing mood), and Martha Argerich, Riccardo Chailly, Radio Symphony Orchestra (my father ) Rachmaninoff'S third piano concert. The woman throw herself on the music like a hungry tiger would devour a piece of raw meat. Spectacular. The orchestra almost could not run after her pace.

And a 360° video. Best viewed in VR, but you can also move the picture with mouse or by moving your tablet. Now I know how it looked like for my father! He would have sat with the bassonists.

Unfortunately, the place the Philharmonie and a smaller secondary concert hall are located, is not that attractive, and a sober looking, boring place, now included in what the Berliners named the "Kulturforum", some modern galleries, the subterranean Nationalgallerie and the tourist trap Potsdamer Platz are nearby. The following video gives an idea of the surroundings and you will agree that it is anything but attractive. The beauty lies well hidden behind the walls.

I have seen it on DVD, a live concert by - ehem, The Corrs. Maybe not the highest of arts, but I was a fan of their music years ago, though only live perfmance. In studio, I think, they sucked.

My father's orchestra played there during a tour, too, he liked it. But not with the Corrs, but the RSO.
