They talk about billions and trillions and move heaven and earth and have other branches of indutstry chiming in into producing ventilators and life support devices - but since weeks cannot get the emergency quick-building of new factories for FFP masks in all Western countries started although quite some companies stand ready to produce both filter material and fibres if their requests for credit securities wpould be met with a bit more wellmeaning...??? Fire this useless political personnel then! I thought we are in a desperate emergency...? And all they get managed is that a few T-Shirt preducers now knit oridnary textile masks of questionable medical value? Sorry, dear drama conductors, that is unacceptable as a performance.

Then your leaders acted more clever than ours on that FFP issue.

Clotch masks are beign done over here now, too, but they are more for public moral or propaganda.Their protection value is not convincing: niot by what we now know about the virus and behaviour of aerosols.

Germany, I red an hour ago, has estalbished cklinf od an air lift to China and will get 40 million masks in the coming two weeks, one airlifter per day.

Chinese mask manufacturers can dictate conditions and prices at will currently. And they do. 50% payment in advance, else negotiations are not even started. Quality varies widely, from clinical standard to totally useless. Some nations have complained to have gotten "clinical" masks made of underwear.

FFP masks are the new gold for the time being.

^Well, the authorities will write a "lessons learned" book, but the consequences are costly and memories will fade ever so slightly.

In Germany a few months ago a study was published by the Bertelsmann foundation (a neoliberal think tank) demanding reduction of the number of hospitals, the number of beds in each hospital, and the number of beds equipped for intensive care. Had this study been around two years earlier, we would see different figures in the national body count, that's for sure.

Politics usually addresses short term memory and this won't change after Corona.

Buying everything from China just because it is cheaper has cost the USA and many other countries real lives in the general population and in the medical fields.

I've proposed before to let the illegal aliens we catch work on farms or even help build the wall, but the unions would put a stop to it for sure.

The actual intent of the ordinance is to discourage people from buying up N95s when the greatest need is for those who are actually dealing with active Covid-19 case to have the masks. It is a response to those idiots who bought up large stocks merely to profit off the situation. For the rest of the population who are not medical and health professionals, first responders, or others engaged in essential activities, an N95 is not really all that necessary, so it doesn't seem to be a major inconvenience since there.are other alternatives. It should be noted the ordinance doesn't mean the average citizen who does have an N95 will be stopped and cited, just that those who are trying to exploit the situation for a profit are going to find their 'market' severely limited...

Maybe those N95 'entrepreneurs' and hoarders might consider listening to their better angels and donate the masks to those who actually have an extreme need...

Then again, those who would seek to profit from other's miseries probably don't have better angels...

Went through my masks and found 1 N95.
Gave it to my Wife as she works at a Dollar Tree Store.

Other masks are simple dust masks and a P95. Which I gave to Nancy Lady also.

Need to find the main part for my filtered mask. The one I wear when I'm working in moldy areas.
It's a P100

I'll have to hit our warehouse and see what all stock we have there next.
