This carricature of a German chancellor obviously does not want Russian supply lines interdicted.
Or he fear that the civilians living in Crimea can't escape when it getting real hot there-If Kerch Bridge is destroyed.

Don't think he is interested in a Russian victory-Or is he ?

U.S. had supplied Kyiv with about 20 ATACMS missiles in cluster munition modifications, each carrying 950 small bombs on images those used are from 1996.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MGM-140_ATACMS
M39 (ATACMS Block I) missile with inertial guidance. It carries 950 M74 anti-personnel and anti‑materiel bomblets. Range: 25–165 kilometres (16–103 mi). There were 1,650 produced between 1990 and 1997, when production ceased in favor of the M39A1. During Operation Desert Storm, 32 were fired at Iraqi targets, and during Operation Iraqi Freedom a further 379 were fired.[37][38] The remaining ones were being updated to M57E1 missiles.[39][40] The M39 is the only variant that can be fired by all M270 and M142 launcher variants.

M39A1 (ATACMS Block IA) missile with GPS-aided guidance. It carries 300 M74 bomblets. Range: 20–300 kilometres (12–186 mi). There were 610 produced between 1997 and 2003. During Operation Iraqi Freedom, 74 were fired at Iraqi targets.[37][38] The remaining ones are being updated to M57E1 missiles.[39][40] The M39A1 and later variants can only be used with the M270A1 (or variants thereof) and M142 launchers.

No World War III, after all the red lines crossed

European delegates staged a walkout at an international cooperation forum hosted by China – as Vladimir Putin was set to begin speaking.

The Russian president arrived in China as a guest at Beijing’s third installment of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) – Beijing’s multibillion-dollar infrastructure project aimed at increasing the country’s global standing by connecting China to other parts of the world through road, train, and port project investments.

Chinese president Xi Jinping opened the ceremony in the presence of several world leaders and more than 1,000 delegates at the Great Hall of the People, west of Tiananmen Square, and shared the stage with Mr Putin who made the rare trip outside Russia despite his nation’s .

But he was boycotted by some European delegates, including former French prime minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin, underscoring the growing geopolitical divide in Europe and the West.

Videos from the event showed Mr Raffarin and other delegates walking out from the halls as Mr Putin was set to deliver his remarks after Mr Xi.

The Battle of Avdiivka, the Russian attack's northern axis near Krasnohorivka.

At least 63 armored vehicles and weapon pieces were visually confirmed by DeepState as lost by Russia without any tangible results.

This is clearly the Vuhledar scale of disaster. And Russia concentrated a very large grouping on both axes in a bid to finally isolate the city in a death trap. It has not happened, with Russia's force accumulated at such a high price largely exhausted.

Despite a ton of bravado in Z-channels on Telegram, hostilities in the sector are steadily dying down.

The war continues, and this episode is a Ukrainian success. https://twitter.com/IAPonomarenko/st...72324941611514

Bad news for Russia: Putin's 'blackmail' didn't work

As winter approaches, Europe is in a far better position compared to last year, thanks to nearly full underground gas storage facilities. The European Union and Poland have both reported record levels of gas reserves, effectively countering Russia's attempts to manipulate the energy market.

According to the newsoutlet aa.com.tr, as of October 16th, European underground gas stores were filled to 97.95 percent of their capacity, amounting to over 3.71 trillion cubic feet of gas. This is a significant improvement over last year when the EU faced a gas shortage due to prolonged maintenance work in Norway.

Gas Storage Poland, the company overseeing the country's national storage facilities, reported that their reserves are 99 percent full. The company regularly updates the filling levels on its website, indicating a strong preparedness for the winter months.

Data from the Gas Infrastructure Europe association reveals that the current storage levels are unprecedented. Even last year, PMG warehouses were only 95.6 percent full by mid-November, holding 3.56 trillion cubic feet of gas.

The EU has not only resumed imports from Norway but has also announced plans to construct new storage facilities. Additionally, EU member countries are increasingly utilizing Ukrainian storage facilities, which can hold over 1.06 trillion cubic feet of gas.

In the years leading up to its invasion of Ukraine, Russia supplied the EU with an average of 4.9 trillion cubic feet of gas annually. However, Gazprom had been manipulating supplies and prices even before the conflict. After the invasion, the company broke contracts with EU recipients who disagreed with unilaterally changed conditions.

By achieving near-full gas reserves, Europe has effectively neutralized Russia's attempts to wield influence through energy supplies. This marks a significant shift in the geopolitical landscape, as Europe takes steps to ensure its energy security.

European natural gas futures surged over 5% to above €51 (same as in Augustus 2021) per megawatt-hour, mainly driven by persistent concerns about gas supply due to the Israel-Palestine conflict, overshadowing milder weather forecasts and high gas inventories. Israel has shut down a major gas field due to safety concerns amid ongoing conflicts, which could affect liquefied natural gas exports from Egypt. On a positive note, temperatures in parts of Europe, including France and Germany, are expected to return to normal or even rise above average in the coming days after a period of unseasonably cold weather. Meanwhile, an Australian union alliance approved pay and condition agreements for Chevron's two LNG facilities in Australia, resolving a stand-off that had workers considering renewed strikes. https://tradingeconomics.com/commodity/eu-natural-gas

The Assault Failed, Everyone Was Killed

In a phone call to his wife, a Russian soldier also says he has so little food and water that he doesn’t have the strength the wear his bulletproof vest.

A Russian soldier has been overheard in a phone call to his wife describing the hellish conditions he and his unit are facing on the front lines, describing horrific losses in failed assaults on Ukrainian positions and a crippling lack of basic supplies.

In the intercepted call published by Ukraine's Military Intelligence Directorate (HUR), the man describes losing 100 men “in a few days.”

"The assault failed. Everything is in the s**t, everyone was killed," he says.

The soldier’s location is not disclosed but Russia has been suffering extremely heavy losses in its so far failed attempts to take the town of Avdiivka.

The Russian military in fighting around Avdiivka likely suffered its worst combat losses since mid-February, and by some measures suffered one of Moscow’s worst battlefield defeats of the war thus far.

“Everything that we occupied, they (Ukrainians) have already recaptured," the soldier says.

He then goes on to complain that the Russian military command hasn’t delivered food or water to its troops in weeks... https://www.kyivpost.com/post/22970
