TOON came back from a shock 0-2 scoreline at half time to earn a draw but Brighton trounced Reading 3-0 to go clear at the top by a point.

After this round Leeds has a nice 8 point cushion to Fulham and 9 to Norwich...

Long way to go yet and the only prediction I'll make at this point is that either Brighton or TOON will get automatic promotion, the other two places are anyones guess.

I'm divided when it comes to TOON's eventually advancement. On the one side I would be glad to see them take the step up to the highest division(Premier League) On the other side, I fear that they are not strong enough and will have to take a step down again after only one season in Premier League.

If the TOON are eventually promoted it will take approximately £80 million in player investment to remain there and I'm not sure the clubs sole owner Mike Ashley will commit to that level of expenditure.
It's quite possible Rafa will be enticed to a bigger club next season.

Brighton 1-2 TOON
TOON go back into top position after a hard fought win. Next two fixtures are equally as tough, away to Huddersfield then Reading.

True that and if the next two games are wins I expect automatic promotion will soon follow.

Sunderland is poor. They started fairly brightly, Defoe hitting the upright. But they don't have enough in them. They're going down. But I have said that before. 'Pool sitting in fourth. Not bad, I'll take a CL place. Arsenal, Man City and Liverpool are all level on +24 GD. Problem is that mighty Burnley await and that's probably a defeat since the Reds seem to play to the level of their competition. Looking at the fixture list it looks favorable. Only one match remains against the top six, and that's Man City at home in two weeks. The rest are against teams like Palace, West Brom and Ham, Watford and Stoke. Liverpool host the Merseyside Derby in 3 weeks. That should be a comfortable run. But then again, it's Liverpool and I'm confident they'll find a way to lose 4 or 5 of those matches.

Except when there are two matches and your favorite team is playing in one of them-Then you pick that one. Markus |

TOON play 5th placed Reading tomorrow night but the game isn't televised.
Tonight I'll make do with watching West Ham v Chelsea.
