I'd like to use German ranks without changing game language. How to do it?

I thought all mods, including OTS SH3 v1.4b, have German ranks irrespective of whether you play with German or English language selected? Indeed, it was my rank corrections that the devs used in patch 1.2 (or whatever one it was).

Either way, SH3Cmdr has now removed all rank assumptions, so any rank changes are best applied direct to the *_menu.txt file, lines 160 to 174.

Default SH3Cmdr R3.1.2 now available!

So much for R3.1.1 being my last release...

I have just released R3.1.2. Broadly:
  • Reverted back to using "N/a" as the current date with lost or surrendered careers
  • Posting dates in Personnel Files now more accurate
  • Personnel Files now report U-boat as lost in all instances where the U-boat is lost at sea
In essence, these changes "hide" some of SH3's internal mechanics to avoid player confusion. For example, if your U-boat is lost, the HI value is irrelevant and just causes angst as it did for one player recently.

Downloading and installing
R3.1.2 is cumulative, in that it includes the changes made in R3.1.1. So installation is EXACTLY the same...

IF YOU ARE RUNNING SH3CMDR R3.1.x simply use SH3Cmdr's "Updates" feature. It will download a small zip file. ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS UNZIP THE CONTENTS OF THE ZIP FILE INTO YOUR \SH3 COMMANDER FOLDER, OVERWRITING the files already there (only two will be updated). Nothing else needs to be done. You don't even need to rollback. And you certainly don't need to reinstall GWX or NYGM config files.

IF YOU ARE RUNNING SH3CMDR R3.0 OR EARLIER you must download the FULL installation to get these improvements. Go to the first page in this thread and follow the instructions. Do not download via SH3Cmdr's "Updates" feature. PLEASE pay particular attention to the instructions if you are a GWX or NYGM user and PLEASE read through this thread before posting that it's all too confusing.

Hallo.
I need your help again guys.

As soon as my first commander retired i continued with a new commander. I saved the game mid-patrol and exited the game. Then a window in SH3Cmdr pops up saying that "index out of border(s)". That's about it.

Any ideas?

"Index out of bounds (11)" will be the error.

This will occur with careers originally started pre R2.3, or if you attempt to start a new career using the same name as a career originally started pre R2.3. Why? Because SH3Cmdr R3.0+ dropped internal handling of such careers.

Solution? Open SH3Cmdr.ini (located in your SH3 Commander folder) and remove the Commander name from the [CAREER DETAILS] block. When you next select him in SH3Cmdr, new details will be chosen for him (which is, I guess, what you want anyway considering you are starting a new career).

Thanks a lot!!!
A last point. Once i continued a previous career with a new commander and it gave me a type IIA boat (date summer of 1940). When i started the game the conning tower of the boat was that of the previous boat (type VIIB) and it was placed the other way round: the UZO was looking the stern and the flack gun the bow! Does this have to do with SH3Cmdr? I couldn't figure out why this had happened.

JScones I think your latest exe is broken?

Access violation at address 0045B541 in module 'SH3Cmdr.exe'.
Read of address 00000004

It installed a !BACKUP folder in the same folder of the installations exe program...:hmm:

This happen after I've clicked on the update option then the downloaded update exe bug up.

The update file from your personal website works.

When you click "continue career with a new commander" you have to check that it gives you the right boat. If your old commander was in an IX called U-65, and it generates a new commander in (for example) a II called U-125, do not launch the game! Go back to your old commander and click the "continue career with a new commander" button again and check the type and U-boat number again. Sometimes you have to do this several times before it gives you the right boat. It's a small quirk and easy to work-around (as I just described) once you know about it.

Sorry mate, you've lost me. Pls tell me exactly what you did that led to the error message. I need detail.

Interesting. :hmm: First I've heard of this after two months of general use.

I have a career coming up to retirement, so I will play around with it and see if I can replicate the "problem".

It's so easy to work-around that I didn't think it worth reporting.
I'm on XP SP3 in case that matters. I also had the problem on SP2.

Okay. I clicked the 'Updates' button. It tells me I have 3.1.1.179, and the available version is 3.1.2.181. So I click 'Download' and Commander goes away, just as if I had clicked the little red box with the 'x' in it. So I look again, and it gives me the same message. So I went to your website and tried to download 3.1.2 directly, and got a message saying it wants to run the full 3.1 Setup Wizard, not just overwrite two files. So I did that, and it still says I don't have 3.1.2.

Que?

I saw in your post here and update so I went to click on Update on SH3Commander and downloaded your zip file below,
http://rapidshare.com/files/11665733...dr312.zip.html

I opened it and doubleclick on your exe file and got the error message? I'm as confused as you are dude.

So then I fixed it by going to your website and downloading the actual program which works now. But your update link to your program option for the file is corrupted.
