I'm looking a ta similar situation, only a couple of provinces to go till I have all of Gaul. I'm in an alliance with Britain and Spain.
My plan is to build up a few good size armies and march some into Spain and put them near the cities (placing my forces like chess) I'll also set up my naviy ships in a position to blockade quickly. I'll alos garrison my border with the British provinces with strong armies. ONce I have everything in position I plan in one turn to blockade all Spanish ports, and beseige as many Spanich cities as possible whilst keeping an eye on the Britons. Will this wok, I dunno, could be fun to try though. If I pull that off I'll then take out Britons avoid the Germans and head towards the Macedonions. |

I'm keeping the Britons and Spaniards off my back at the moment so I can concentrate on the Gauls.
Still I have been giving them a good thrashing though. Once they attacked a small force I had of about 300 soldiers with their 1000 odd army. Thing is they attacked the wrong force as nearby I had over a 1000 men as reinforcements who came in from behind the Gauls' line. That was so funny. |

![]() ![]() HORROR! O THE HORROR! The spaniards finally have done it, they have slaughtered a 1900 men strong army containing romans finest soldiers. the captain was send out to aid the village of Narbo Martius. southern France is nearly ours, we only have to push the birons back north and prevent more spaniards comming in from the south but its a hard battle to be victorius over. fresh troops are marching but because they carry heavy siege equipment progess is slower. but its still too soon for the enemy of Rome to celebrate as the Real war has just begun. .... 1 thing I really hate about RTW is those $%@! WAR DOGS! the spaniards really make good use of them...really hate to go up against those War dogs also the coding is just stupid instead of attacking the dogs they go after the soldiers that commands them so to speak...and if you dont be carefull they ate a whole preatorion squad as breakfast ![]() ![]() anyhow some screenshots of a quik battle versus a Rebel Army, didnt had time to take shots of the defeat as I was too busy regrouping my men to get them back in line but it was pure chaos ![]() Marching closer: ![]() Raining down arrows upon the enemy: ![]() ''Come back cowards, let me poke you some more with our spears!'' ![]() HunterICX

Summer 248BC.
After the swift capture of Sardinia and Corsica from the poorly trained and equipped troops of Karthage, General Sextvs was called back to Rome. He was to reinforce his troops and head north, to start a 2nd campaign against the Gauls. Some years earlier, when the 1st campaign was halted, only the towns of Segeta, Bononia and Patavium had been conquered from the Gaul. Now, the newly appointed emperor Scipio overruled what was promised to Sextvs; He was to conquer the entire Gaul, before he would be ordered back to south, to attack mainland Karthage. The first strike came on late summer of 248BC as Sextvs marched his men to the gates of Mediolanum. Little did he know, there was an ambush waiting for him. Instead of the reported 600 Gauls, he faced over 2000 of them. Fortunately, the scouts saw the advancing enemy and the general had time to set-up his defences and won the battle with only a few casualties. After the battle, Mediolanum was left with no defenders and the road was open for the Romans. Defensive formation. Triariis in the middle as a wedge, behind them the archers and on the sides, Hastatis and Principes. Cavalry in 2 separate groups ready to flank the enemy when the battle starts. ![]() Archers!!! ![]() Aaand here we go. ![]() The cavalry on the right flank, headed far behind the enemy to take down the other general. ![]() They got the general easily with one charge and then were left there to pick up any fleeing enemies. ![]() The main battle was going poorly for the Gauls, the veteran troops of Sextvs had a pretty easy job on crushing the attacking Gauls. ![]() As the infantry grew tired on both sides, it was time for Sextvs to lead his heavy cavalry to the flanks of the Gauls. ![]() That was enough for the Gauls and for their will to fight. ![]() The fleeing enemy was an easy target for the fast moving heavy cavalry. ![]() End result ![]() |

Bloody Senate.
I had an army just inside the Britons border, the Senate tell me I have 2 turns to get them out, so next turn I move them to my side do my stuff and end the turn. What happens, the Senate decides we are at war with the Britons, and the congratulates me for moving my army back to my side of the border. Anyway that meant the Gaul village I'd just taken was under seige but fortunately I whacked that army, complete massacre 800 Britons killed none left for the loss of 23 men. Fortunately Spain who I am allied with haven't broken the alliance. I had one with the Britons so I could deal with Gaul. Oh well just two Gaul provinces to get and they are done. Then I will take the remaining Briton provinces. I'll leave Germany alone, make allies with them. |
