Sochi Winter Olympics 2014

Seems like a terrible place to have the games when you look at the climate there. Even overlooking all of the issues that have arisen the past few days. Either way I am curious what others think about the location and issues arising so far.

And if you have anything artical wise explaining the location choice PLEASE please post it I am having trouble locating a decent explaination (other than the artical below).

Seriously, the Black Sea region is pretty much the garden spot of modern Russia. It's not like accommodations are better in Novaya Zemlya.

There are some sports, I'm going to watch during the Olympic

As an animal friend it make me cry when I see and read how they kill the stray dogs that run around Sochi

I heard about the dogs...was mad enough to send a letter to the russian ambassidor in both english and russian (had one of my russian friends translate it) so i could make sure there was no miundserstanding.

At a friend's wall, I wrote that it was important to part between sports and politics. One should not put the sports performers and sports interested equally hated. On the other hand one should put pressure on the Russian government

The Olympics are in Sochi this time round because their bid was the most successful of all those who tendered.

why not? I don't have a problem with it. If a moderator wants to change the title to reflect such they may do so.

The oddities in Sochi abound and astound.

I'm sure you've all seen the single bathroom stall with the twin toilets.

Probably charging admission for photo ops.

Not to mention the cameras in the showers. The Russian soft porn industry wouldn't be denied.

Nothing like a National Lampoon vacation in Russia.
