Ouch!
Yep Canberra is another story. You don't need to get drunk to see 'roos on the streets down there. I remember driving near Red Hill once when about a dozen 'roos bounded out of the nature strip and across a 4 lane divided road. Had to stop and wait for them to cross before I could drive on.
