Howdy

Names Charlie ( U- 4053 ) been around awhile live in Elko NV. I'M retired so I do alot of online gaming, I also dabble in graphic art. I have all the Silent hunter games. It's pretty boring here in Hooterville, so I spend alot of time on my PC .

I agree with you guys. The game is great. I have them all too and I've spent a lot of time gaming. I think it's just great.

Just got my first command and I'm heading to the coast of England to do some hunting.

Good hunting Folks!

Steve

Default Hello form the UK

Hi all, guess it's time to properly introduce myself..
My name is Paul, 42 years of age and still single after all these years. I work in the horseracing world as a stable lad, wouldn't change it for anything. There's nothing better than galloping at 30mph or so in the early morning light.

My passions are classic American cars (have owned about 10 over the years including 2 Corvettes and 2 Plymouth Roadrunners) and music of the Heavy Metal variety.
Picked up an electric guitar to learn about 24 years ago and still can't play it.

Played all the SH series so far and originally joined these forums when SH3 came out, didn't post much, so little in fact that I had to rejoin with a new ID because I couldn't remember my old one when SH5 caught my interest.
I have bitten the bullet and out of curiosity bought a copy now even though when I move to my new place there is little to no signal for my mobile broadband and maybe no chance to play.

First impressions I had were not so favourable but I have to say due to the hard work of the modders of this community in changing the dreadful UI, I pay much respect.

Well, ahoy mates. Chuck here, and hailing from Seattle Wa. USA.
Gosh it's been like 3yrs since I logged onto the forum, but actually have read a great deal still but no posting as I usually can find what I need without saying a word.

I have been a fan of the silent hunter series since SH2, I also have SH3 but passed up SH4 for some reason. But SH5 brought me back big time and am really enjoying it so far.
Im an Apartment maint. Supervisor on a small 82 unit property in Shoreline Wa. which is manged by a rather BIG mgmt company. I enjoy Kayaking, flightsimming, and am big into RC flying. These days I've gone all electric with RC planes and really am not missing the old days of "wet power". Too noisy, slimey and oily. The technology has come so far now with micro electronics and lithium batteries that electric flight has finally come into it's own.
So this is me, proudly standing behind my trophy winning PT-19 at the Boeing Museum of Flight's RC expo last november.

Cheers all,

Mariusz here, a Polish-Australian living now for 3 years in Romania! I'm 35 with a wife and 3 year old boy. Used to think I was some old 'freak' for still playing games(at least that's what my wife thinks), but seeing all the old timers(no disrespect as I'll be there eventually too) here has made feel a lot more comfortable and optimistic that I can get old 'disgracefully' and still enjoy myself

I've been a member of these forums in ancient times (2005) under some nick that I've forgotten as I didn't post that much. Been lurking since then to get news and mods on the SH series. Have been a PC subsimmer (and simmer in general) since the beginning of the 90's with Silent Service. Have all the SH's apart from 5 which seems to have quite the number of problems at the moment. Don't have all that much time to play these days so haven't yet experience all that even SH3 with GWX has to offer so I can wait for it to be in the bargain bin before trying it.

Hi. My name is Steve, I'm a Security Supervisor in Sydney Australia, and I just turned 53 today. I spent most of my life working as a Technical Officer for the Royal Australian Navy, and the last few of my postings were sub-related. I was an Inspector of Naval Ordnance working at the RAN Torpedo Maintenance Establishment at the submarine base HMAS Platypus. I was supervising the assembly, disassembly, and testing of lightweight torpedos (Mk 44 and Mk 46). Lightweight torpedos are ship-launched, helo-launched, or Fixed-wing aircraft-launched anti-submarine weapons. I was also supervising the same processes on heavyweight torpedos (Mk48), which are submarine-launched anti-shipping and anti-submarine weapons.

My next posting was a weapons assessor, assessing Anti-Submarine Warfare exercises for the RAN Trials and Assessing Unit. In this posting, I learned the intricacies of prosecuting targets with modern torpedos (using sonar and search patterns to seek their targets). Very interesting job indeed.

I've played a few sub simulators, but have only just got SH5 so I've yet to form a firm opinion, except to say I don't like the DRM requirement to be connected to the internet to play. I also am addicted to a WW1 flight simulator "Over Flanders Fields: Between Heaven and Hell". Completely immersive sim.

I'm Vice-President of the Australian Society of World War 1 Aero Historians, the longest running Society of its type in the world. You can see what we are all about if you visit our website at www.ww1aero.org.au

Happy hunting

Well, guess I will have to introduce myself here. Name's Phil, 32, located in Frankfurt, Germany. I've been interested in Sims for the nearly all my life, starting submarine and flight sims as soon they became available like "GATO" or "The battle of Britian, Their finest hour".

I am with the SH series since SH3, which impressed me so much I got hooked, with the GWX team having a special part in this fascination. Thanks again for that, guys!

Currently I am working at a motion capture studio in Frankfurt, which gives quite a bit of insight into the gaming industry. Done work for Crytek, Epic Games, Piranha Bytes and yes, even UBI.

SH5 brought me here after already lurking for a long time. And I sincerely hope this game has a futute, as bleak as it looks now.

Default I'm starting to like the game...

My name is Esa, I'm 36 years of age and I'm located in Finland. I have been playing all the SH series since the very first one and have liked them a lot. Although I was initially disappointed with the SHV's quality and with DRM I find myself starting to like the game more and more every day.

Especially after applying some of the great mods already available on this site. Big thanks to all the modders and other people who have been posting a lot of useful info about the game.

I think I will even give the SHV morale system another go tonight (...if I can pass the DRM check).

Default Hi

I am Keith and I received my copy yesterday. Not too happy , loved SH3 , though SH4 was okay , think that SH5 will improve once the modders get their hands on it. Is it just me or are Ubi just sending out a half baked game? Anyway enough griping. I am from Dundee and love the SH series. will look forward to reading all the comments , and asking questions.

Hi. I'm Jose Batista and 'm here since 1995.
That's true. Do you remember old barracuda? I'm Still around and with a new user name. Reason for a change in user name - well the portuguese sub barracuda was decomissioned and we are waiting for the new flotilla, and the first is the Tridente.
Only yesterday i've received my copy (limited edition from UK) and i like the game. One thing that is annoying - where i can get a pdf from the keyboard layout? Now in the begining i need a print of that.

Tridente.
