Cool bit! Maybe throw in some anchors, flags, and guardsmen too for an 'original' monument that has a plausible/believeable appearance.

Will be some time though if we are able to do something, due to current obligations.

Without trying to hijack this thread though... it deserves a good brainstorm session... to also represent past members (and the unfortunate necessity of allowing for future events) who are 'on eternal patrol' now.
Hey...I like that idea of the flags and anchors, etc. Very cool. Looking forward to what you guys can come up with.

Default A message from Dave

This is the first posting I've made. I've been a member of this forum for some time, and during that time I have received one private message. That message was a birthday greeting from LeoVampire last October. Never knew the man, never corresponded with him, but he paid enough attention to things to notice it was my birthday, and he took a moment out of his day to send a greeting. He demonstrated true class. I greive at his loss.

Welcome to Subsim Mr. Sherman.

Your story proves what many of us have come to know of Dave/Leovampire. He was a true class act, and a more thoughtful man than most.

We were lucky to have him as part of the Subsim crew.

Welcome to SUBSIM Matt Sherman

I have said this before, he was a genius disguised as a regular guy. He changed the face of SH4, at the same time helped whoever needed it, from the veteran members here, to the folks just arriving.

Thanks for sharing your story, it brought a smile to my face, another great memory of Dave

Welcome aboard, Matt.

Update on the clock/plaque; the engraver is having some difficulty translating the SH4 screen shot to an engraved image. He showed me some test runs today, and he is checking in with the manufacturor of the equipment, they are going to help him with filters and fine-tuning the settings to get a better result. So I will check back with them early next week.

Default An Idea

Just a lark, but it would be very moving to be able to sail past a spot in pearl while your crew mans the rail, with daves awesome sunset coloring the mood. No clue if its possible or not. Manned the rail passing battleship row and the Arizona manny times, and it always choked me up a bit.

Just a note from my end; I had offered to deliver Dave's memorial clock to Francisco on behalf of all the members of SubSim since I'm only about an hours drive away. I was notified by Neil in a PM, that Francisco has declined to have the package delivered by a member, and so it will just be mailed instead. I must admit I was a little disappointed at the news, but I'm sure Francisco has his reasons, and I respect that. Just thought everyone should know about the change in the plan.

Got my paycheck today and remembered this right away. The rest of you who haven't pitched in yet - don't forget!

Default Condolences to Daves Family.

Just popped in here to see how everything was going and to check to see if Dave had left me a message........

If only everybody we knew shined like Dave did. An exceptional individual who never seemed satisfied doing just what was required, he always had to do more.

People can say great things about us when we move on from this place, and usually only the best bits are told...... All we ever saw of Dave were the good bits.

I am truly saddned... Peace be with you Dave, I'm sorry I missed the chance to share more of your time here.
