Config notes: I run NSM, PE, RFB, RSRD in that order; RFB and RSRD are as updated as I can find (1.51 and v395_Patch3 respectively). I always start early '42 or '41. Primarily the group that starts at Cavite (Task Force 35??), and I've done very small bits under SubPac. 100% realism, which for RFB means everything but Map Updates and External View checked.

Advanced apologies if this has been brought up before, but I couldn't find it, so: I've never been given a non-patrol mission. No photo, or lifeguard, or anything else. It's no problem, really, as I've racked up a lot of single-merchant kills (convoys would be about 1943, I'm guessing?) in the zones I've been given. Just curious, want to see if something's wrong with my set-up.

I've also never been attacked by aircraft, even though I always surface run and (once I get it) have air-search radar running constantly. South China, Java, Celebes, and Sulu Seas are my preferred haunts, which all put me way inside Japanese air cover, right?

The mod is working "as designed"

I've got a problem. I use the following set
  1. NSM4
  2. PE3
  3. RFB1.51
  4. RSRDC RFBv1.5 v395 RC5
  5. RSRDC v395 patch3
But when I try to start a new game there is a mistake
file not found: data/menu/gui/recmanual/covflagpanama.dds
How can I fix it?

The lack of Japanese air cover is quite strange. Strikes me as an odd design decision, since Japanese planes were encountered quite often historically, and subs were forced to run submerged during the day.

The number of unescorted single ship contacts also seems quite high.

It appears that you had OM installed at one time. It appears that “sometimes” JSGME does not remove all the directories/folders. To correct this problem do the following.

Deinstall “all” mods with JSGME
Go to Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\Data\Roster
Remove the panama folder
Reinstall selected mods with JSGME

Lol. A lot of simmers were complaining that there were *too* many planes in the stock game.

What you have is a corrupted install. With the repeating “Luzon Strait” mission the system is saying “I can’t find the correct mission”. I strongly recommend you deinstall all mods, confirm that that you have a “clean” SH4 1.5 install, the reinstall RSRDC_v355_for_V15 and then RSRDC_V355_Patch6. Just a FYI, the file that controls all the mission assignments has not change since it was first put out in March. I conducted a systems check today and patrol assignments are being generated correctly.
I am at a loss as to what to do now. I re-installed SH4 UBoat Missions (1.5) overwriting my current(previous) install. I have ONLY RSRD 355 and patch enabled with JSGME...NO othr MODs. No matter what I do...what homebase I choose or Year, etc, when I start an American career I get the Luzon mission...always...

DISREGARD above comment. I have now re-downloaded RSRDC 355 and patch 6...Enabled thru JSGME. It seems to work now. My first mission objective out of Cavite is to patrol Lamon Bay. Is that the correct/expected first RSRDC mission? If so, it appears i may be back in business.

I don't see anything LOL about it. The mod errs in the other direction, totally removing the Japanese air force. I uninstalled the mod today, after spending almost the entire month of July 1943 in enemy waters without so much as a single SD radar contact. Nor did I spot a single enemy destroyer. It was like maneuvering my sub in peacetime. Very boring, and not in keeping with the memoirs I have read.

I'm glad it all worked out

Too bad. That has not been my experience. I get air contacts from time to time depending of course where I am. I've seen single and 2 DDs on patrol, a CA TF comprising 3 CAs, single as well as escorted convoys.

I'm sorry that you don't like my work. I guess you can't make everyone happy.

Did the possibility occur to you that you were in the wrong place at the wrong time?

July of '43, where were you?

Lurker everytime I go out to sea I NEVER see anything. Maybe a small convoy here and there. BUT just the other day after being on patrol for around 35 days I FINALLY hit the jackpot. A 51 ship convoy heading directly towards me.

After a small amount of positioning I was at a perfect set up for a bow shot on a large merchant and a stern shot on a medium. But I be damned them faulty torpedoes plagued me that day. Large merchant escaped unhurt, Medium blew sky high.

Had to give credits for such an awesom mod

By July of 1943 the following events had happened:
Coral Sea, Midway, Cape Esperance, Santa Cruz (this is going from memory), so the cream of the IJN air fleet was gone.
Guadalcanal and half the solomons campaign, so the Imperial Army air component had gotten a kick in the but.
Bear in mind the japs didnt produce flying schools as the allies did, where do you think the RAF trained his pilots, maybe Canada? and a lot of them, ditto for the US be it AAF or Navy Carrier groups, it took about 1 1/2 yrs to make combat ready pilots (and those were simple planes)

So the japs didnt have a great air component available... I dont recall (meaning its 0603 local on a saturday morining and I dont want to search a book) if the first Carrier raids on Rabaul had taken place.

You can allways find planes close to the main jap airbases/anchorages, I suggest you do a trip to Truk, to Tawi Tawi or similar... believe me if you find planes there is something nice close by.

My mistake after reading lurkers 10:32 AM post... it would be impossible to model all real life, now I know only ASW dedicated planes and airfields are included.

Java Sea and the channel east of Singapore. I should be smack in the middle of Japanese air bases at Java, Borneo and Malaya. Not one plane. It doesn't ring true to me.
