Damn. Running. Low. On. Tools.

Also, anyone know who Zirran is? he popped in, demanded Gordon, and left.

Zirran is Kapitän Schneider.

Dunno who Gordon is. Probably Gordon Freeman...who could come in useful against the SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSs hordes...

Gordon Freeman, or a crowbar even, would be great for battling the SSSS hordes. Just had a creeper nearly kill me.

I had noticed a new forest past the pyramid from my security booth(turns out it was just the new duplication system thing that has replaced the black squares in the distance). Was waiting in security booth for sunrise to check it out. Waited a little bit longer so any undead would burn to death. I open the security doors(the iron ones), and then open the wooden entrance doors, I turn around to close the door behind me, and see a creeper on my right.

Apparently he was standing right up against the doors. I quickly slam my diamond blade into his face, while running backwards.

SSSSSS *BOOOOM!*

Luckily I took no damage, and despite my initial worry, the damage was mostly to the sand. Only thing I really lost was about 4 blocks of glass, 2-3 torches, and a sign board.

Minecraft voted as PC Gamer UK's game of the year.

And now for those who say diamonds are hard to get. How exactly are you digging them?

Here's what I do and I find quite a few diamonds: Dig to bedrock, back up 5-15 levels and start mining in 1x2 shafts with 2 blocks in-between. I get my diamonds this way and then you'll find caves while mining that usually has diamonds. Just be careful not to get soaked in lava.

Been there, done that. Still very rare, and no where near enough to replace what you use, not by a long shot (heck you are not at even at replacement level when only digging for diamond, using diamond tools).

Don't forget a lot of you did your major building when you could still do the tool drop exploit, and as a result have a ton of diamond (especially with that duping bug), and a much easier time building your projects.

Also Spike how many of those tools are from the duping bug? Plus with what I am trying to build, those tools would last about 2 days maybe.

Anyhow I don't think any of us are suggesting this be a creative server, we just want the fast tools to last so we don't waste as much time gathering resources, which is tedious enough as it is. Basically as things were before with that exploit.

Lastly those mods generally do not need to be updated with every version release, look at the update logs for them.

Whatever isn't in my personal inventory is a duplicate.

My connection problems created them.

We want Gordon!

I only say it to see if anyone is online. It comes from one of the messages you would see on the title screen of Minecraft before it went Beta.

For those of you doing huge projects or projects based on realistic buildings, are there any programs you use to help make dimensions, etc?

I am wanting to make the Oratoire de St-Joseph instead of a generic castle on my island and was wondering if there was anything Icould use to make it realistic in dimensions and aesthetics.

For those of you who don't know what it is..:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Joseph%27s_Oratory

http://www.saint-joseph.org/

http://photo-reverse.com/saint-josephs-oratory/

I live a few blocks down and like the look of it. And, as the current beginnings of my castle look a little gamey, I figured a real building would look better.

Cheers!

1 block equals approx 1m by 1m by 1m.

When I was building the Crystal Palace, I used Google Earth to get the rough dimensions of the base and worked from that. Since your choice of object didn't burn down in 1936, you can get a better idea of height through existing measurements.

There's a program out there called something like voxeliser that converts a variety of 3d model formats into blocks which then gives you your Minecraft template. I forgot to bookmark it when I was linked to it, but I might go hunting for it again.

-Edit-

I've been doing my best to keep the minecarts running on time, but a lot of the repairs are coming from my own resources, which means I have to spend some time down t' pit. I'm also currently trying to build a line to plug space mountain into the main network and create the world's first Rapid Ferret Transport System.

Following that I've got to add boosters to the DLR in both directions, add a spur to Drewcifer's place, and then dig a tunnel to Zirran's with nothing but stone pickaxes and my bare hands.

If you notice a place where mobs are getting onto the tracks please feel free to improve the fences or dump some spare dirt to make the wall a bit higher. If track is damaged Arc doesn't mind Ops using their powers to give you spare track, as long as it's for the railway. If you don't want to do any of that at least dump a marker so when I do a quick sweep of the line I can see that something needs doing.

I used google to find info about the dimensions of my current project, Olympieion/Temple of Olympian Zeus. Found some pictures of a 3D model to approximate the height of the main doorway.

It was quite difficult to find the dimensions since there seems to be another temple with a similar name, so it was a bit confusing.

After finding out the dimensions I used one of the png maps Arclight had posted to find a suitable spot, and on the map, 1 pixel is one block.
So I made a hollow square in the dimensions of the building in GIMP to make it easier to see what the best location would be.

I used a reference when choosing a spot, a couple of flowers. I then placed torches to mark that square in Minecraft, quite a lot of torches. I placed a torch every 10 steps from one end to the other to mark the dimension of the sides.

Then it was all about terraforming, I had to fill a shallow lake and level some hills to make it level, but after some time and quite a lot of dirt it was levelled.

I followed the floorplan of the building to mark the locations of the columns and the rooms, I had to adjust several times to get the number of columns as close as possible to what the real thing had. It had 104, my reproduction of it has 100. Minecraft isn't perfect. I build as close as I can to 1:1 scale.

I use this site to convert units.

Where do many of you get your online models for buildings?
