maybe if you guys make the rule, that if a creeper blows up near you, then you have to fix the hole, otherwise the world will just turn into the rathole worlds you sometimes have on minecraft classic.

also, have any griefers visted your server yet??

No that I know of. Hardly any other than subsimmers finds the minecraft thread here so I believe we are fairly safe.

It's fun to build a bigger project when you have to deal with mobs all the time. Kolaaja and I lost everything. At the same time a fear that we are going to create a new world is torturing us .

I sure would like to see your server! cant wait till i get minecraft next week!

i saw a screenshot that showed your world with creepers as plentiful as trees! sounds exciting!

how many people are online at any given time usually?

Im still thinking of what to build..... maybe a submarine to start off with.

also, is there a way to tell where a player is? in minecraft classic this is generally impossible.

Please do not take Minecarts from the boosters!

It stops the network working for other players.

I have now placed a chest with some spare carts in it, at Bromley-By-Bow (Fort Newby/Parthenon) Station.

If you take a cart please replace it at the earliest possible convenience. I will add a few more when I can spare the Iron and any also carts I find unattended on the tracks.

You will find the chest on the grassy area next to the West Ham bound platform. Hopefully these carts will get you to your destination.

Crécy and Kolaaja, I think I have a plan for making the line to you work without having to widen it. But you'll have to make sure there's nobody travelling in the other direction before you set off.

On a slightly different note I went mod hunting based on some conversations with Neon.

These are just suggestions Arc, if you want to make the server back into a more creative than a survival one.

Anti-break mod: Lets you define which tools can be worn down, so for instance Diamond tools could be indestructable, whilst everything else still takes damage

Craftsman mod: Adds the ability to repair tools as well as a couple of other useful functions.

Just some things to think about. Of course if you want to keep the server vanilla then we respect that. Hopefully in the future Notch will add something along the lines of the Craftsman mod anyway.

Ya a number of us are unhappy with having to use only stone tools due to the extra work and time involved. I wouldn't mind having either unbreakable diamond tools (not armor though, as that would make you immortal), or the ability to fix them.

Sorry, this is not, was never intended to be and never will be a creative server.

And I don't want to get into a situation where the server is down because the game was updated, but we have to wait for someone's mod to follow suit.

That's cool. I figured that was the way we were heading, and I completely understand your reasoning. Especially with Notch's unpredictable release schedule.

I mostly went looking for the mods out of curiosity, just to see if other people had wondered the same thing.

I've been planning my projects for the next map based on having to survive rather than something creative initially.

Notch is apparently planning a new update next week that introduces a Water Mob and Paint. Should be interesting.

Paint? That's even more grief-sensitive than fire... which is quite worrying.

I don't think Minecraft is just about building; gathering resources is a big part of it. I know it's a pain in the rear, but keeping supplied with picks and other tools is just part of the game.

What doesn't help is how spread out we are on the current map. However it would be unfair to the newcomers to end this map now and start a new one.

Personally I enjoy the fact that we're spread out.

When I started out on this map, I found it very nice near home (very developed, etc) but found it kind of too crowded.

Where I'm at now, I enjoy because its far enough out and mostly secluded enough (the road that leads to it is neither fenced off nor very well lit) so griefers, should they appear, and wandering people looking to steal, will not find it. Yet, it is close enough that it can be reached within a day or two's worth of travel.

Also, Ark, I for one would love it if diamond tools were the only thing that was indestructible (picks, axes, shovels, spades and swords that is). It makes building your own creations a tad easier and quicker (in that you don't need to constantly worry about having to craft a new pick). Don't get me wrong if you decide not to implement these, but I for one enjoyed when tools were indestructible

Edit: Are the two mods listed here available for SP? Or are they only useful for the admins of MP worlds??

Cheers,

Krauter

I really agree with Krauter, you have to dig like crazy to find dimond, and then you get it just to wear it down, and its just a real pain in the a** to have to cut down abunch, of trees, and the stone, just to eat through them like crazy.

I would like to suggest that we have a Minister of Transportation. So they can keep the Minecarts on time. Also to repair the track and build Train Stations and make them Mob proof.

I thought you were from the UK? You should be used to minecarts not running on time, and train stations with holes in them.
