I think it may be AG124
Drop him a PM if you can help him - he makes great ships but the UV mapping is not his strong point

Yeah, it'd be great if you could help out with this... skinning the ships like they are is really annoying, and the varaitions I can do are very limited.

I am not very familiar with SH 3 modding. What 3D program do you use guys? 3D Studio Max?

UVW texture mapping is a very simple process in general. It's no problem for me to fix the mapping for you in 3D Max, however, it's always the best practice if the skinner himself takes those 2-3 hours to learn it and does it on his own without a need of a middle man who doesn't really know how he wants to skin the model. Anyway, let me know. Meanwhile here is a very nice and simple texture mapping tutorial:

http://waylon-art.com/uvw_tutorial/uvwtut_01.html

I do hope those decks can be fixed since they are quite visible when the ships are sinking.

I would very much like some help with the UV Mapping, as I cannot figure it out at all (although part of my problem is that I haven't had much time to devote to it). I don't use 3dmax though - I have a free program called Wings3d. It does have a UV Mapping utility, but it doesn't work. I have also tried a couple of others, but didn't really know how to get started. I have an assignent to work on right now though for Law School, so I don't have time tonight.

Default Lightship Picture

Chris911, when you get the chance, here is a picture of the Lightship to add to my WIP section on the first page. I noticed this vessel doesn't have a picture there.

LOOOOOOOL, a good one. Just give her skin a bit of a light tan please. She looks like a Thanksgiving turkey to me. You know in those days tan wasn't really a choice of girls from a higher society.

AG124, how are you doing with that UVW texture mapping? If you get the ship models to me in 3ds format and show me what part of the textures you want me to map on the deck, I will do it for you in 3D Studio Max. I suppose your work willl be a part of GWX and I would like to see those nice ships being mapping error free.

Default New Ship - Proteus Class Collier

Here is another WIP ship you may want to add to my list in the library:

BTW - There were actually seven vessels in the Proteus class, although the number is usually listed as four. The four well know ones are as follows:

USS Cyclops - Lost (unknown cause), February, 1918.
USS Jupiter - Converted to CV-1 USS Langley (Sunk by Japanese a/c, 1942)
USS Nereus - Lost (unknown cause), December, 1941.
USS Proteus - Lost (unknown cause), December(?), 1941.

The other three were USS Orion, USS Neptune, and USS Jason. All three were scrapped in the late 1930s.

@ mkubani - Thank you for the offer. I will contact you back on that later, if I decide to get the maping fixed.

Feel free to do so. I suppose it won't take me more than 5 minutes per ship to fix the most serious mapping problems and your work will look much better for sure. You can contact me on my gmail email (same as my nick here) or by PM anytime. Maybe you can send me one ship for trial to see how it will come out.

Default Proteus Class Collier

The status of the Proteus has now been changed to released. Also, here are some better pictures than the one I posted here earlier.

You can check the fileshare link in my signature for the download link if you haven't seen it in another thread yet.
