Hi frankie
If you set up the 2 mods I mentioned in the previous post and started the game with SH3Commander when you loaded the game to the main menu to start the naval Academy you should have seen your captain's name there.

After the Naval Academy you can enable more mods.
When you go back to Commander you still need to click on New Career as you have not started it as such as the Naval Academy is part of SH3.
You should then see your Captains name when the game loads to the main menu.

Ok here is what I,m doing

1 open up SH commander and creat a player name and start game
2 play a mission in the academy
3 get out of game and go back into SH Commander. The name I created isn't there so start the game
4 click on the name I created and start a career, mission start and finish is at Stralund (think that's how its spell) this is where the game freezes after the bottom red line is all the way across...... sooooooo close

Hey guys, slowly coming back to career. In the manual LSH3 Team said it was required to have minimum 8 gigs of ram and 2 on GPU to run this puppy smooth. However, is that really enough? Don't forget that there is an entire system that runs in the background + possibly couple of apps.

Hi Sw
I guess unless you are running with that type of limited system you will not know.

In the GPU's Control Panel you may well have settings that can lower things like light shafts and shaders which are high end performance users.

In the Windows Control Panel
System
Performance
Settings
Performance Options
Visual Effects
You will probably see that Windows selects the default setting to take charge.
You have the option here to make preset changes or you can customize.
Also in the Advanced Tab is the option to run Programs or Background Services.

Default LSH3 2015 crash

Hi, having just installed the game and LSH3 2015, and activated in JSGME only "FULLVERSION". Then I go to naval academy to learn the damn game, but as soon as I push "start", the game crashes to desktop. I have nothing else enabled, such as widescreen utilities.

Now what?

Windows 7, 64 bit. GTX 680.

I remember such CTD with supermods. It was because some units had wrong parameters : the type number in data\sea\unit\.cfg file was not the same as in data\roster ... so first check if all is good by opening the mission editor : does it show an error message ?

Yes, even before the editor is started an Engine Message appears saying:

The unit class AMM from country American not found in the platforms library
and
The unit KLAKE from country American not found in the platforms library
and
And so forth....it keeps repeating messages it can't find some unit of country American (and many other countries).

So, that's why your game is crashing !

Open SH3\data\roster\american\sea and the file of each units that are written in the error messages you get with mission editor.

For example : NKLK_.cfg

It is written :

[UnitClass]
ClassName=KLAKE
UnitType=104
AppearanceDate=19380101
DisappearanceDate=19470101
DisplayName=GreatLakes-Steamer

So the type number is 104.

Now, open SH3\data\Sea\ and NKLK_ for example. Open NKLK_.cfg

The type number has to be 104 too. If not, change it.

The difficulty is to find the right folders, as they have sometimes not the same name as the unit (example : "NKLK" instead of "KLAKE")

When you have corrected all the files needed, open again mission editor to check if there is still some error messages.

Good luck !

Yes, I tested this already with one class and that produces one error message less indeed. But there are so many wrong! Looks like probably all of them. LSH Fullversion mod changes that number as it most likely replaces that file. What's the point of changing all that. Others don't have that problem it seems, so where does it come from?

Hi Machariel
When you start the game for the first time you must only have 2 mods enabled.
I have made some comments in your other post.
Make sure you follow my LSH3-2015 tutorial instructions and your game should run without problems.

That's what I did. The main mod and widescreen only should be enabled.

Default Installing LSH3

Greetings Kaleun's!

I've been away from SH III for a long, long time. Back in the day I played it with the GWX mod and some other mods. Reading about the Living Silent Hunter 3 Super Mod has me wanting to give it a go again.

I just want to make sure that I'm installing it correctly before I start. Please let me know if this is the correct process (yes, I've read the manual but it doesn't say anything about getting SH III "prepped" for the installation - unless I missed it, which is possible).

1. Using the JSGME uninstall all active mods.
2. Completely remove any trace of SH Commander from the computer (I thought I saw a thread mentioning this, but will be damned if I can find it again).
3. Install LSH3 as per the instructions in the manual.

Also, do I have to have a fresh installation of SH III or will "unmodding" it suffice?

Thanks,
Scott
