I just had an ah s*** moment, unlucky patrol got bombed and strafed twice just on the way to the patrol zone, then spent an age chasing a hydrophone contact which turned out to be Dutch, setup an intercept on another medium target and used a load of fuel but he just vanished. Down to 50% fuel so I started to head back, finally got lucky and practically ran into a c2 at night, gave him two sweet hits below the chimney stack but he wouldn't go down so I had to give him the third tube as well... Anyway, feeling satisfied and tired after a 3hr Patrol plotted a course back and time compressed it right up to the docks, left to go the the bath room, came back and my boat was sunk with all hands in the harbour to a collision! And with no save either.

To use 60 105mm rounds to sink a filthy coastal freighter!
Edit : The next ship I found was a passenger/cargo. She went down with 5 rounds. The gun crew was the same. Last edited by VONHARRIS; 12-12-10 at 02:41 AM. |

The only P/C loaded with a cargo of lead, then. Because I swear all the rest are loaded with ping-pong balls.

All of this in the same patrol:
1. Spending a day tracking a ship, only to find out it was only a neutral tramp steamer. 2. Intercepting 3 convoys in a week, yet having to break off because the weather won't even let you see the Black Swan 200 meters away. Netted 11,000 on that patrol.

Firing two torps at a destroyer , then realising I'd forgotten to check the depth.

Finding a "convoy" of 3 14kt Auxiliary Cruisers and 1 ASW Escort.
Firing an air torp at the ASW rather than electric by mistake. Winning the turning battle you just got into with the destroyer, firing off the stern torp, and as soon as it hits, CTD. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO |

Now , I am returning to La Spezia after a succesful patrol (80K) with TC 1024 and I get a death screen that my sub was destroyed by collision with some uncharted small island while on open seas! I haven't saved the patrol either. |

Why yes it was. I like to play DiD, but this was a Force Majeur, so I kept reloading till I sunk that DD again. Took me a couple loads to do it since apaprently my weps officer can't hit a high speed moving target. Learned I gotta lead it a little. Guess the time difference between when I hit fire and when it goes is enough for a DD @ 20kts @ 3.5km to be overshot.

@Gargamel
I guess this happened around late 1939 mid 1940 somewhere off the Northern Ireland. If so , then this is certainly a bug. |
