Hi all.

Does anyone know if there will be realistic weather conditions mainly typhoons and severe thunderstorms which are common in the pacific?
That sort of effect would have a massive effect on the way the game is approached as far as planning an attack on a task force for example.

Any ideas????

(great pics by the way)!!!!!!

I sure hope so, as my only criticism of the weather in SH III (having lived and worked in the North Sea for 18 years myself) was that bad weather was scarcely modelled above force 4, whereas in the real North Sea the bad weather in winter was almost constantly far far worse with very large waves indeed, poor visibility and driving winds creating white spume from wave tops.

Ahar ye lanlubbers! I tell 'ee thee has no conception of the power of that wild ocean!

In the Pacific I guess it was even worse on occasion. IMO "Stormy Weather" could and should be a major feature of an ocean combat simulator, maybe with a switch for those with lower powered systems that can't handle modelling it.

The first enemy of any skipper is the ocean itself and both the North Sea and the Southern Ocean are notorious for frequent monsterous weather.

I take a look at the boxes and...well....I think that's pretty much what we'll get.

I tend to agree with Philips.

However, look closely at the front of the sub.

"Hey, that would smooth out a bit more with some anti-aliasing".

There is rendering going on there if I am not mistaken.

I take it you worked on the "rigs" Lionman??

They will probably go for gameplay rather than "realistic weather".
But its nothing that a decent modder cant sort out I guess!!!
You mite be onto somethin with the toggle switch to enable realistic weather for people with high end systems!!! (unlike mine which was out of date within 6 months of building it)!!! Oh well, credit card needs a bashin anyway!! ha ha

As far as the pics go, i think we are all going to be dissapointed with the "actual" game graphics!?! They just all seem a little bit too touched up to me!!!
As if an artist has had a go at em!!

Just my opinion though.

The shot posted by Kapitan_Phillips looks a lot more like the sort of in-game graphics we are going to see (even though He doesnt believe it himself)!! No offence mate.

It all comes down to what type of system you have at the end of the day.
