Our cat Boo Boo, was bitten by a brown snake Sunday morning, cost $800 for an anti venom shot, couldn't afford it so it is a waiting game.

He started off with his back legs paralyzed and slowly moved toward the head, we have been cuddling him and massaging him and is slowly on the improve. He won't eat or drink so we use a syringe (without the needle of course) and force feed him to take water so he doesn't dehydrate.
He still has his back legs paralyzed but not as bad, he can shuffle about when he wants. A few times he slipped back and had us worried but he's a fighter, this will be his third bite of the same species.

We don't let our two Burmese cats outdoors as the coyotes eat them, even in urban areas. Rattle snakes abound but are not a problem for felines as a rule. I hope BooBoo recovers fully.

I am pleased to say that he has finally eaten some meat this morning, having paralyzed legs I won't mention the 'fun' when he needs to go!!

Glad to hear your cat is recovering Reece. We just had to bury one of ours this past weekend. Kidney failure. Poor thing.

Yes it's a very sad thing when it happens, amazing how you get attached to them.

My son Dave's cat had to be put down Monday, just old, the cats name was Worf, he was quite a character, his fathers name was 'The Fonz' or Fonzy. (We love to come up with 'different' names.)

I'm happy that he is recovering from the snake bite.

A little advise. As you wrote before it wasn't the first time this have happened and you couldn't pay because it cost $800 for an anti venom shot.

Here's my advise, put aside some bucks each month or week if you have the money. Or get a insurance-thing to your cat. Thereby you will either have the money to pay the anti venom, if it should happen again or you have the money to pay about 1-300$ and the insurance take care of the rest.

There is no insurance over here but honestly if I had $800 spare there are many more urgent things to spend it on. We basically survive day to day, every time we save some money something else breaks down, it's just life!!
