Could be a roman infantry helmet, but the upper part is smooth, without the riveted lines

Yes - the first 'Ancestral' Roman helmet, Celtic influenced, 100BCE - 100CE; made of iron rather than brass or bronze

Way 2 go! I 2 looked at gobs of Roman helmets; but couldn't find the damn rivets! also described as a 'Montefortino' helmet??
