One would hardly expect our draft dodging president to know the difference.

In the fleet senior officers, bosun's, boatswain's mate, snipes and the lower forms of life like bubbleheads, cannon cockers, junior officers, cooks, and skivvy wavers etc, etc. were issued and wore black shoes. Its been a very long time since brown shoes were a seabag item. But most airdales still know what you're referring too if you call them a brown shoe.

When did it become an issue when the rich dodged the Draft?
Substitution and commutation? Ever heard of it? I doubt the poor could take advantage at that time. |

Opinion journalism. Makes for ratings. Gives other opinion journalist like CNN a segment that hopefully generates ratings. It's a wonderful push me pull you story.

This is being taken out of context, he's most probably not against women serving in the military, what he's questioning is why the hell does a woman want to put a flight suit on and put her unborn babies life on the line while pulling a 4G or 6G turn.
Can you pull a 6G turn because I have no idea, perhaps the military could find a willing pregnant female pilot and put every ones mind at rest by doing some aerial stunts for a media PR blitz, will there be anyone thick enough to do it.

Pregnant pilots are also already free to continue flying, if they so choose. It was even made easier for them to do so, in 2019. During Trump's presidency. |

And it was done quietly and without fanfare because, unlike Burden, Trump wasn't playing the identity politics game.

However as for a woman's choice, it's not a free for all. The choice' applies only between the 1st and 34th week of an uncomplicated pregnancy. To continue to fly applies only to non-ejection type aircraft or UAV's. Pilots of other aircraft will most likely be grounded as soon as the pregnancy is known. Physical standards are in writing and must always be met by both men and women in all branches of the U.S. armed forces, it's not a secret everyone in the service knows this. They also know the flight surgeon or other qualified physician determines the physical health of the service member and whether they can continue performing their duty. A doctor will be the one who determines whether a pregnancy may affect a woman's flight status just as he will determine if a man's vision has declined to the point him being unable to effectively do his job. In my opinion the biggest change in all of this is the fact that a pregnant woman no longer has to waste time cutting through red tape for waivers and special doctor's appointments just to prove she's capable to carry out her duty between weeks 1 and 34 of an uncomplicated pregnancy. It's just been made easier for her to continue doing her job without the headache of having to jump through hoops. Its the Air Force ferchrissakes, its not like its a hard job

Yes, fanfare. That a mundane thing was even part of a speech is fanfare. Newsflash - none of us who were or are in the military who don't have an agenda give a sh!t about something like this because it's a don't care item since maternity wear for women has been around for ages - as long as you do your job and pull your own weight, no one cares if you are male or female.

I was dating a Woman once when I got into a bar fight.
As the Bouncers held me back the other Guy sucker punched me! That Woman JUMPED over the bouncers and broke his nose dropping him instantly! I married her and am still married to her. So guess who MY back up is? |

So in essences Biden is taking credit for maternity suits that started to take shape(no pun intended) during the Trump administration as well as credit for the vaccine that also was completed during the Trump administration.
