Well, me and the missus can't put back too much, we both have medication that does not agree with alcohol, but I dare say I can have a pint and she a vodka and coke.

The trick is staying within your limits and having an enjoyable time and that is what I am sure we will all have.

Just been on Google Earth and the city gate is York Gate and the pub immediately inside with the beer garden is The Lamb and Lion Inn

Monk Bar Model Shop generally has a few diecast in so I'll be popping in there as well if time permits

The Lamb and Lion right next to Petergate IRRC. Had a pint in there when I first visited York in 1993. Very nice from memory. Wife and I stayed in a B&B just up the road outside Petergate.

I did a Streetview walk and noted no less than 4 pubs between our hotel and Petergate.

If it's hot we might get thirsty on the way.

I don't need a straw. It evaporates from the glass.

I'll be staying in London for 3 days (2 nights) after York.

Any ideas for a good B&B not too far from the center

Try the Churchill; stayed a week there; not overly priced and close to everything. the wife gave the barkeep her recipe for an "old Fashioned" (with bourbon) Five blocks west of London central; even I walked it!

Try the Bloomsbury Palace Hotel. Just remember that the places in London are going to be a bit more expensive than places further out.
