Has anyone read the book Starship Troopers?

Heinlein argues that corporal punishment is more effective and more humane than locking someone away for 30 years.

Wasn't there a case like this a few years ago regarding a teenage boy caught painting graphiti in like Malaysia?

It was a drunk Swedish guy... and he got a stiff sentence and imprisonment from the Malaysian courts for his insulting grafitti against the King.

The point: Don't drink and draw in Malaysia...

Even if that is the case (and I don't think it is) it does not prevent reoffending in the
same way prison does and it certinaly does not help reform.

Of course, you can always change "corporal punishment" to "capital punishment" and be both more effective AND certain that the criminal won't be committing the same crime again...

In the European medieval, church and judges had animals sentenced for having committed crimes of blasphemy (a pig farting at a church door, or whatever it was).

In the medieval.

Teddy teacher moved to secret location

A British teacher jailed in Sudan for insulting Islam by allowing her class to name a teddy bear Mohamed has been moved to a secret location for her own safety.
The dramatic move was made after thousands of weapon-wielding protesters gathered outside the presidential palace in Khartoum to demand a harsher sentence.

Just watching the ITV News and these hot heads want her dead.

I just like to add it is only a bunch of hot heads not all of Sudan.

Well Yassin, just hope your Islamic extremist buddies don't consider your Western influenced dreadlocks offensive to Allah....

Yah know, Yassin thinks he is living in the past. For crying out loud, other countries do not run around looking to lynch UNBELIEVERS. This is just fanatics smelling blood and a good time in the town square.

It's ludricrous. These people don't even have decent beer... How can you run amok in the town square, calling for an execution, without beer?

What is this world coming to?

Different World

Muslims in the middle east are different then those few that have become westerners. The main groups in the middle east consists of extremists, Moderates that follow the extremists lead and believers that do not agree but do not speak up in fear of retrobution ( Good example: Usually those kidnapped in Iraq and killed in mass executions).

The thing is we dont say "Death to all of Arabia" and protest in the streets when they draw cartoons about our religion.

I have a Muslim friend and he is what you consider a believer by their standards over there. He said it best " Todays muslims should of been around during the time of the crusades, then all the idiots would of died together". He's right back then we were the crazies.
