Silent Hunter 3 since GWX was put out, til then I would have to say the Silent Hunter 2 would have been the game to beat. There is still life in the old girl yet. Still so much you can do with it. But with GWX mod the play and graphics cant be beat for SH3.

SH3 + GWX by far!!! Aces of the Deep was pretty good too, as for SH4, when I get a new GeForce card and an extra gig of ram it may knock GWX off the top but it will be a hard job to do.....

GWX makes SH# so much better it was my favorite without GWX but with anything there is allways room for improvement.

well its a bad option to compare silent service with silent huntet 3 dont ya think???
but as far as "dates" are concerned the silent service should win hands down. up to todays dates then SH3 GWX wins hands down. so just to be awkward Silent Service for me due to their brilliant prgramming gor the era.

Fair I sure had a lot of fun at it hours and hours and hours
strangely I had an affinity for surface attacks using guns
against the escorts back then too.

I found this quite a difficult choice, because I have enjoyed many subsims e.g. the likes of Silent Service, but they are from a different era so really can't be compared with today's subsims. At the time Silent Service was around any dedicated subsimmer would have probably said it was the best thing since sliced bread like we are saying SH3 is today. I also enjoy the modern subsims like Sub Command and Dangerous Waters (why isn't DW on the list!!) and have spent many enjoyable hours in my 688i or Seawolf trying to track enemy subs or surface vessels to achieve the mission objectives.

I didn't read the whole thread this time, but how come this is asked in a SH3 specific forum ? Shouldn't the outcome be quite obvious as it is right now anyways ?

SH3 with GWX is the only way to go. If SH3 didn't have GWX, I probably would have chosen CAOD. I played that game for a long time. The atmoshpere was just about perfect and I loved the main theme music.

Might be a dumb observation but...

This poll is asked in the wrong area...It should in a neutral forum post not in the SH3 forum..

There is potentially too much biasness here
