What's GMAX ?

I now use 3ds format. I can use any well described format. I could use pretty any format and reverse engineer it, but since there si so many good described formats and most modelers can do exports to them, I hope there will be no need.

I especially have good experience with Wavefront OBJ and Lightwave LWO.

But now the fastest way is to provide 3DS.

Also there is forum dedicated to the sim and it's kinda dead now, so please post any questions there:

Excellent thread, ladies and gentlemen!!!

I was wondering how long it would take the community to rise up and create their own cold war subsim. I almost started my own similar development, years ago in the sub command times, after being desillusioned from it but then switched to a WWI project finally.

I am also a big hydroacoustics nut, trying to design my own fancy hydroacoustics and sonar model but have other priorities now.

I am also much into ship dynamics on which I focus for quite a while now.

Anyway thumbs up to Dr.Sid for the couragous attempt to pull out a cold war subsim and all the best.

Do not run out of steam, the community will not forgive you this.

Why don't you join us at CADC (check my signature) ? I would use someon to talk to about the very topics you seem to be interested in.

Well I saw that Dr.Sid has his forum sections there and I thought that this might be the forum of his development but I saw there is lots of forum sections for DW and was wondering why. I also saw that you seem to run the business there and was wondering who's forum that actually is.

But I see now this is a forum for DW mainly and Dr.Sid is actually only a subset there. Anyway, hey I see you are from germany actually ?

Are you from the north somewhere ?

The CADC originally started out as the "Dangerous Waters Tips & Tricks Vault" and kinda grew from there. As you pointed out its primarily centered on DW itself and designed to be both a resource as well as a place to discuss DW and all around it.

When Dr.Sid first started his ComSubSim I offered him a place there incl. some Infrastructure (Wiki, Tracker) to help in his endeavour ...

To answer your last question ... born in the North, raised in the middle (near Frankfurt). Haven been living in Hamburg the last years and now due to my job I'm travelling around in the North a lot.

Cheers
OS

What about to do the release party in a real sub...for example in the Juliet-class museum submarine in Peenemünde ?

Why not ! And we can also 'lay the sim on the water', I mean the CD with it :rotfl:
Only I don't see how the CD case would withstand the bottle.
