Trying to operate near the arctic circle in Mid June 1944. 4 hours of "dark"?! Cmon....... Just enough time to recharge the batteries, but not enough to do a speed run on both props while it's still "dark" out to evade air patrols.

As for mine, watching a destroyer lay a string of depth charges right next to your boat as you're lowering your periscope. Not a good feeling at all.

Finding a virtually unescorted convoy in the Channel, only for a squadron of He111s to appear and sink the big ones before I could get in range!

Having a relatively simple career in the Black Sea sinking naive Russians and then having some idiot at BDU send you into the puddle in the North that leads up to Rostov. Career over in water barely deep enough to sink in.

The last time I played I had my biggest aaaah **** moment, thought it was more of a
**** ******* **** ******* thing why the **** did you do that. What a ******* **** ******* **** **** ****** with asparagus! Manually set up a shot which had taken me nearly an hour real time because of poor weather conditions, finally had it lined up perfectly. Wiping the sweat from my brow, I gently press the fire button... Then notice I'd selected one of the stern tubes at some point during my calculations

How about sinking a bunch of large merchants and tankers in BF17, then save for the night. Come back the next day to load up and continue, only to get that GD message that there's a problem with SHIII and it will have to shut down. You know that pop up and what it says. Happened 3 times in a row in trying for 15 minutes to load that last save. So it's ahhhh CRAP and delete the save. All those ships sunk are lost..... but going back and trying again with the save before it, the sim works fine. Now it's, ahhhhh that's better, campaign saved.

At the beginning of my raid on the Freetown harbor, I was having a good time sneaking by two asw ships lacking sonar, despite the very shallow water I had to go through. At one point, I noticed a ship moving fast turning towards me, giving me just enough time to ask 'where did that destroyer come from?!' just before it ran me over.
After looking and seeing that, miracle of miracles, I had very minor damage, I went into the external view to see how far away the destroyer was, I saw it heading away, it's bow sticking out of the water. It's like the impact had torn the back half of the hull away and the back half was scooping up the Atlantic before stopping and sliding under. |

Having to avoid Convoys in early '45 cause your low on torps, and you'll never get enough ships out of the convoy to make the ASW risk worth it.

Sinking 28,208 tons of merchant shipping after spending a month at sea, not able to make any worthwhile contacts.
Returning to port with a smile on your face, only to realize that 28,208 tons was NEUTRAL shipping.
