Hardly surprising when you consider the PM was a remainer and any extention would take us to the next general election.

As things are now she has increased the possibility of being overthrown from within her own party.

The UK is not allowed to run billateral trade negotiations with anyone as long as it is in the customs union. Also there is a risk that the "temporary" solution gets abused and run indefinitely, evading that way the meaning of "Brexit". Wouldnt be the first time politicians run temporary solutions indefinitely long. "Solidarzuschlag" in Germany, anyone? Forming a new constitution after German reunification that replaces the workaround of the Grundgesetz (the latter was meant to last only as long as Germany was divided)?

That is a huge disadvantage for the UK that can hardly be called cake-eating. The EU made this proposal in order to lure the UK back under the EU umbrella again. It gives the EU a strong position and the UK a weakened one.

I still think i the long run leaving the EU is better for the UK than staying abpoard, but it cna only work and adaptationjh to the new reality can only happen if this ridiculous weaseling-around comes to an ultimate end. It has started to be hilarious. The UK needs to reorientatew itself newly, and completely so. It does not need these many millstones bound around its neck. The vote was for pro Brexit, so damnit man: lets get it done. Such are the rules.

Really, hilarious. May tried to poick rosins, yes, but she did not get them, instead so far agreed to one foul compromise by another. Until here, limited to the negotiations about Brexit alone: the EU is the winner so far and has not moved on one substantial issue so far, while May has withdrawn from one position and then the next and then the next.

Don't trust EUrocrats who bring you gifts.

The only thing keeping May in power is the fact nobody else wants the job on the Tory side.

Heaven forbid we end up in a general election position and Corbyn is victorious.
