May I offer a suggestion. Go to SilentHunterIII/Data/Sounds, then look for the sounds with "amb" in the title(stands for ambient). You can sample those sounds with WinAmp or Windows Media Player(or whatever you choose). Most likely you are looking for amb_SubmarineInterior. There are some mods around that change it, the one for Grey Wolves is annoying, because someone coughs every 20 seconds or so. Also, if you have not downloaded Hansolo's WAC 2.0 Full Sounds, I highly recommend it(especially if you are a Das Boot fan).
Thanks a lot! This is gread sound mod!

Is it possible to disable in-game music but retaining it in SH3 menu?
You can turn off in-game music by unticking music option box in sound menu; not sure what you mean about retaining it in SH3 menu but hope this information is helpful to you.

I know that but it turns off all music. I want situation that music plays if menu screens are displayed but it doesn't play during mission except gramphone, of course. Such desirable situation you can find in the GWX mod.

Well, I have already ended my long work to choose the best mods configuration. Here you are what I selected from all your lumber room. My winning mods compilation is as follows:

- WAC Light mod as a baseline (the best supermod for average user)
- Fubar's plain U-boat skin pack (sorry Han but your "light skins" look very ugly...)
- Raceyboy's SH4 effects for SH3 (wonderful graphics however this mod is quite hardware consuming for low end machines but more RAM for me is pending!)
- OLC GUI mod for SH3 1.4b (I think SH3 stock GUI should look like this!)
- Longer wakes for all
- Icons with English labels made by Capitan America

Big thanks to helpful people for advice!
Shame on smart alecs, squirts and troublemakers!

That's great news. I hope now you can enjoy your game and let the "smart alecs, squirts and troublemakers" enjoy theirs

Anyway, I just discovered WAC after playing GWX for a few weeks (and getting a bit borred already).
I didn't have the time yet to try WAC a lot but so far I really enjoy your work.
Currently playing with WAC full 2.15 + OLC and a few texture tweaks to let my old radeon cool down, this gives a great feeling to the game. That's the mod that most fits my idea of what SH3 should be (darkness underwater, repair taking forever, various trafic and so on).
The only downside I found so far is about the ship's damage model, it looks like they can not sink by flooding.
I'm glad to read that a new version is on its way, thanks for your nice work
Sorry to interrupt here, but...

OLC GUI works with WAC?

I never tried it. I presume you used 1.1.4 for stock version? Are there any problems at all? If not I'd love to put "Compatible with WAC!" on the OLC GUI thread

@ OLC - Yes, OLC GUI works fine with WAC(Although I am talking about the OLC GUI for SH3 1.4b (1.1.4) version). I just didn't like some of the GWX Features, like the dials interface with lack of the 6 Dials Slideout Big Dials, and the Deck Gun only had one option(I forget which, AP or HE, with no Star Shells). Other than the GWX Features, the periscope tools all seemed to work, with no CTD or anything.

If you could make another version with just the Peri Mod part, that would be better IMHO. I would like to try it when WAC 3.0 is released(I can't freakin' wait).

OLC-GUI should work over War Ace, hopefully all the ships will ID.
I like the 3/6 dials from the right side of the screen, the sim-feeling ones from the left I can do without.
There IS a ton of harbour traffic in War Ace, but I think that 16k has something to do with sluggish performance on some machines. Where the light version is still War Ace but less harbout traffic and 8k. Once I dropped the particle density down to 50% and that also helped. But that cuts out more jazz.
I also realy liked the OLC-GUI. Except it cuts a few things out if you use auto targeting and are not into manual targeting.

Now even if I had a hard time exiting Kiel in WAC 2.15 (full) due to hardware, I liked the feeling of the mod, now I'm looking forward to this new version
@ Mikhayl - May I suggest installing WAC Light instead. WAC Full is for strong computers. Every version of WAC has Full and Light to choose from.

@ Danurve - As far as ship ID's go, for the ones that don't work, there is a tool that will make all other ships compatible with OLC GUI. It's called "Double Mast Tool".

Well damn, Im not sure how to address that so up front and short;
I don't use manual targeting or any of the Ujagd tools. No patience for it. That's what my phoney officers are for. The olc-gui is very nice but it nearly forces someone away from auto targeting to enjoy it, so this does not help me. Fair enough?
Imo the obs/scope is also very cool but takes away a bit to much as well. And while OLC has indicated it's ok to alter it for your own use I don't have the modding skills for such a task.
