Technically, it is from a single mission I was working on last night. But yes, it is from the FOTRS Ultimate mod.

Question for the rest of the team. In making these single missions I'm finding that the SD Radar seems to be somewhat selective. Planes that I put in the mission don't seem to register but planes generated in game by FOTRS do register. Am I missing something or is something else not working right?

Are you trying the fly by thing I suggested?
There's a reason I asked you to do that type test. Some of the Aircraft units just ain't right. It could be the missing controller causing what your seeing in Game. Last edited by Jeff-Groves; 07-17-16 at 01:49 PM. |

Cool.
A lot of the imported Aircraft have no Unifiedrender controller. That tells the Game how to render on given distances. Maybe the Radar looks for that controller in some way? Not having it might cause a stealth thing? Now the voices in my head suggest I might be insane. I can give you a list of the suspect Aircraft if that would help. @ Jeff-Groves
Might be a good idea if you make a list of the suspected Japanese planes. Visually eyeballing the planes I can't see or hear anything other than what they are planes. One thing I think I should mention is that the only two planes I've been using in my missions sofar is the A6M2 Zero or the A6M5 Zero.

Not showing up on the Nav Map, not being alerted by the crew within the message text box, not showing up on radar? You're being alerted by the crew, but you aren't finding it on the radar? Got to be a more specific.

Reading all the great stuff about the Spyron mod (really a bunch of missions which integrate themselves into campaign mode too), I wrote their author, Ed Howard, over at SubSoWesPac.org. Told him what we were up to and that we thought incorporating Spyron within FOTRS Ultimate would help us, of course, but that it would also give him the recognition and exposure that he deserved for so much work.
I promised him that he would always be in complete control of Spyron, that credit would be loudly given, and that we wouldn't even require that the mod be saved at Subsim, only that we be allowed to link. I said the only change we would make to the mod would be possible substitution of ships for more historically accurate ships and renaming to conform to our plugin numbering system. He would have unquestioned final right of refusal for any changes he didn't agree with. Ain't we reasonable? Quote:
I could make lots of comments, but I'll keep my thoughts to myself. I think we have a fine mission/campaign mad scientist of our own. We might do some research on the Spyron campaign and do some missions ourselves. Spyron was a construct of the men involved in WWII, not Ed Howard. The submarines and men involved never knew who Ed Howard was, so certainly we have equal right to use the material. I think cdsubron7 can do a better job. Out of respect for those who come before, I only ask that we do not copy any of Ed Howard's work. He's an important part of SH4 history. We will define the present.

I'm confused, please elucidate. I know Ed Howard, we worked together on the Pacific Thunder Campaign. Those were good times. I was sorry to see them end.

I already posted the entirety of his response. How can I elucidate on that? And I am equally confused.

"Not registering on the SD"? The only things the stock SD radar is capable of....are two things. Displaying a plane icon on the Navigation Map and reporting to you in the message text box that a plane has been spotted. One of those has been removed by FOTRS due to them thinking the plane icon was giving too much away by showing on the Nav Map. So, they put a blank plane image in its place (I've yet to understand why modders remove functions from the game when all that's necessary is for a player to set their options to do the same thing!!). Other than that, the two stock radar screens....A-Scope or PPI, were not designed to show a plane. My radar screens will show a plane, but that's only after I changed the SJ sensor capabilities. Both A-Scope and PPI screens work off of the same SJ radar parameters......not the SD radar sensor. Their two different things. One thing you should be aware of with my radar screens. The PPI has a maximum range of 80,000ft. The A-Scope has a shorter maximum range of 60,000ft. One will show a plane at a longer distance when the other will not show anything. But...... both use the SJ sensor parameters, while the SD sensor parameters are only going to give you a heads up within the message text box. The only way to get a plane to show on the PPI/A-Scope screen is to have the SJ radar antenna above the water level (go to Radar Depth at least). Raising the SD Antenna while submerged will not display a plane on the two SJ screens.....it will only get you a message text stating a plane has been spotted.
