Interesting. Had already done such a resize for myself as a test, but didn't want to bother keltos with aditional work. I always tought it should look even bigger, but that's difficult to tell when you just look at plain old pictures.

Anyway, it's probably an easy update to offer as separate file for those who have the beast already, as just the main DAT file which contains the model will be involved.

I will probably add in the modified tower as well. Since the sub we made is pre-1943 refit I decided to get rid of the flak deck (but I will keep keltos' original tower as an upgrade for 1943)

oh man, now I get to break the thing back down into it's seperate peices. I wish I had a better way of doing this than deleting the groups 2-300 faces at a time (any more than 500 and it takes a while and I get impatient fast)

EDIT:
bout the resize, I was a little iffy at first but once I scaled the blueprint to the tower (I made sure it was authentic by placing a geometric peice in my modeler that is about 6 feet tall) after that I was like
woah
O_O
it's gotta be bigger!
but I also added in a few details, nothing beyond little ticks that I always wanted to improve, but I didn't want to give Kelt any more work or make him think his work wasn't good enough, I'm a 19 year old student and I seriously have nothing better to do, so I look at all the little details. and make them, usually in very rapid order.

I am a strange kid lemme tell ya, a strange cross-mix between computer geek, bodybuilder, musician (electric guitar for 3 years and I can play quite an assortment of blues, that emo crap is horrendous,) and I've been an avid subsimmer since SH1 made it's debut, well technically a couple years after that(that would make me...what...7 years old?) I was showing my child counselors (who were determined to diagnose me with ADHD) how to evade japanese destroyers. and now basically anything Military (mostly gearing in on Submarines, tanks, and firearms) I can remember and not forget. my poor father. he gets to put up with me and my friends re-enacting monty python skits as well

if you say so, I would just like to think that I could prove to somebody out there that not all of us kids are headed down the wrong road....bass-ackwards...without a compass and a map....you get my point

Hummm you are sure right in making the cow fatter, but is she really that much longer? I don't think that keltos got the length wrong, that was measured by him in the 3D program

well, I scaled it according to the blueprints and after I scaled the blues to the subs actual size it wasn't actually too much bigger. it needed vertical thickening, and the length just kinda eeked it's way out. it's length is to scale as far as the blues are concerned. besides, if I had just widened it it would have turned out fllatter, almost too elliptical (in the front shot)

but I also did a few other things. the grates under the gundeck now have the proper pattern (I do believe you mentioned that they weren't right while we were putting it together.) The hardest ones were on the stern, I might take a screen of that, I used a plastic model as reference, it feels better now. I even added that little sprig on the front of the gundeck and split the stairs in half. the new tower is crashing S3D though. the rest of it's coming together fine. Not too much to redo.

you'll have to redo the AO and Bump maps I would think

length was spot on the drawing which was scaled to the right size.

@SH427 : did you post a fix for the DG problem ?

Quote:
it's a very simple (i.e. all of maybe 28-30 seconds on how fast you can click)

just go into the .dat and find your weapons slots, M01 and M02,
under node positioning, you will see translation and rotation,
on M01 the rotation on the X-axis will be 1.0 degrees
and on M02 it will be 178.2 or something of the sort.

just adjust them back to zero and it should be good to go

there's no such thing as an easy update on that sub !

setting the M01 x rotation to 0 seems to correct the problem

hard to find ships to sink with the dg without a single mission though..

Better think that one over, if you put them at 0 one gun will be upside down since you have a Z rotation also. You need to set 1 to 0 and 178.2 to 180.
