Default DayZ

Surprised there isn't already a thread for this!

http://dayzmod.com/

For the few of you who haven't heard of it, this ArmA 2 zombie survival RPG mod which is currently exploding in popularity despite still being in alpha - 80% of all ArmA 2 online capacity is DayZ servers, and ArmA 2 has suddenly shot up the top sales list on Steam again. It's been getting a lot of attention in the gaming press last couple of days for its unique features, many calling it perhaps the most important game event this year: http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/05/16/da...story-machine/

Unfortunately, the explosion of popularity has also meant that the central server, which stores player characters (that carry over to any server that you play on, assuming you survive long enough to exit the game) and maintains stats, is totally overloaded, and even getting into the game as an ordeal. But I did manage to get about 3 hours of play in today (after waiting an average of 10 minutes on the "waiting for server" loading screen) and it was pretty amazing.

Anyone else playing/thinking of playing this?
