Ironkross, you got me thinking. It has been policy in the past that retailers wouldn't refund for opened software. I wonder how that can stand up anymore since producers like Ubi tie software useability to their servers. Makes for an interesting legal position for the retailers distribution rights and obligations..........I can see fireworks ahead.

Of course it's not finished, we haven't even had the first "real" patch. It's unrealistic to expect a fully polished sim out of the box, sadly.

As soon as the money leaves your pocket on a turkey like this the damage is done. You've voted for Ubi to continue its slimy practices and whether you uninstall or not, you have paid for the next generation of lousy software from a company who wouldn't know a customer if they spoke French.

When we quit financing failure we'll have enough money to finance success. Ubi ain't it. They must be allowed a quiet and dignified death so another customer-friendly company can take their place.

That means no more money to Ubi, no matter what the bright shiny promises, no matter even if the promises seem fulfilled. Their corporate culture is inexcusable, their arrogance beneath contempt. We need to be done with them.

I haven't been posted in this SH5 section lately since I gave up having hopes and playing this epic fail called SH5. But today, reading this post, noticing the manner in which some of you are trying to put Drifter in a bad light it's really making me sick. Fortunately for some, this forum doesn't allow curses. It's obvious that this SH5 forum is not for me. And for Drifter and for all the others that are being attacked by the SH5 army of defenders, a little advice: Please try not to enter this SH5 forum anymore, it will give you just headache. SH4 and SH3 forums have some other kind of people around, if you know what I mean.

Bah... when SH3 came out and the convoy AI was so-so and the Hydo operator was replaced with a bunch of bananas (remember that folks), when batteries recharged even when you ran out of fuel, or in the case of the XXI they didnt charge hardly at all, or weather that remained stormy for MONTHS on end (and many argued that this is the way it is in the Atlantic.... even in the Carribean) people that werent happy were told to shut up.

When SH4 came out a big turd, and people complained we were all called whiners and SH4 was great. To me SH4 is STILL a half baked Turd... and thats after I PAID for the final patch (ie Uboat missions) hoping that I would finally see a 90% bug free Pacific theater.

Now SH5 comes out.... didnt think it was possible to stink up the joint more than SH4, and call this a gold release. Ubi managed it... Who knows...maybe UBI's new business model is to release a game that is virtually unfinished, then make the customer pay for patches that will bring it up to SH4's level! Ubi ROCKS

Dont let the fanbois get to you mate..... they will get bored with SH5 (like they did SH3 and 4) and those of us that are serious about our subsims, and are really tired of UBI screwing us with each release, will be here (those same people are the NICE people in the SH3 and 4 forums now...like CCIP, GOLDENRIVET, Ducimus, RockinRobbin to name a few). I see A LOT OF SH supporters, serious MOD makers, and long time forum members that have always given Ubi the benefit of the doubt with SH3 and 4...totally PISSED OFF in this forum at Ubi's taking advantage of us.

Sorry you feel that way Drifter
Some of your mods have come in very handy

I was pinning my hopes on SH5 as a decent game
After nearly 3 years of heavy modding in SH3 took its toll and couldnt stand to even start it for along time
So was hoping SH5 would be a handy replacement - could never get on with SH4 either depite some great mods
Will stick with SH5 for now though its nice to take a IX out in SH3 once in a while
Learn some more about the files and structures and hope for a decent patch
Really does have potential to be a pretty good game just not now

Though am not taking it seriously yet
Just an arcade shoot em up below sea

See you on the other side
So to speak

No game should ever have to be modded; we should have OPTIONS designed within that give us the ability to turn stuff ON or OFF. SH5, DRM and the "lets wait for patches and mods" attitude are BS. A game like this should be developed with the subsim community's input. MSFS did it this way over the years with the flightsim community and look how great their last game ended up. But it appears that their is little DEMAND for great PC simulations any longer. The MTV kiddy arcade CONSOLE revolution is upon us which has contributed to the DEATH of PC gaming. Ohhh well, it was fun while it lasted--RIP hardcore simmers!

You can try to uninstall it, I have a strong feeling that all your problems related to SH5 will suddenly vanish ... At least, this is my advice when it's about SH5. For a more dedicated and specialized help, maybe you should try to post somewhere when "defenders of the faith" (they know who they are) are in the first line.

The UI and crew system is a complete disaster. Having to walk around the U-boat is fun at first, but after the novelty wears off, it becomes a major pain in the butt. Besides pretty graphics in SH5, I see no other reason to play it. Vanilla SH3 and SH4 are way, way better. Maybe in the future I will reinstall, but as of now, I'm am finished with SH5. Back to SH3 and SH4 for me.
I respect you opinion. But i dont understand why everybody is so bugged of my the bugs in sh-5. I also experience the bugs but they dont effect me to the point it becomes unplayable . I can deal with most of the bugs by simply save and reload . Some are indeed anoying but they can be dealth with with a couple of patches. The rest of the bugs and stuff liken the UI i solve with the great mods that people made.

You seem to like giving people your advice. Not very constructive is it though?
What is your problem? It seems to be eating at you because other people like the game. Personally, I'd prefer you kept your advice to yourself.

I know some here are really enjoying SH5 in it's current state. Thanks everyone for not outright attacking me after that last post. Maybe someday SH5 will be made great by modders. But as of now, I see no reason to invest the time and effort into releasing mods or 'fixes' for SH5 when we don't even know how much will be fixed in future patches. And I still think many of the performace issues people are experiencing is due to sloppy coding.

I know this sounds crazy, but I get the feeling that many on the UBI dev. team who made SH5 are not the same people who made SH3 and SH4. Too many radical changes. Why on earth they threw out everything that was good about SH3 and SH4 is beyond me. By going and reinventing the wheel, they made it square. I guess they were targeting the younger rpg, pretty graphics, go boom boom crowd.

Good post Drifter. To me, there seems to be lot of dumbing down generally, not just in video games, but also in TV programs and in advertising for example. This game was obviously rushed out of the door. I've worked in advertising and I remember an art director once saying, "There's never enough time to do the job properly, but they always find the time to alter it afterwards"

Cheers.
