I was wondering, it's strange when looking at things such as the consistency of snow somewhere else and it looks different. I wonder if I'm just imagining this. Obviously things such as soil and vegetation like grass differ from one place to another but isn't snow a 'constant' meaning it's supposed to be the same everywhere around the planet?

OTH, I think the air temp at time of snowfall has a dramatic affect on the consistancy of the snow. For me it is usually wet and heavy because the temps hover around 32-35. Colder regions it is like powder.

Darn Meo...that is some snow!

Well, we got some! But everywhere else got a lot more...It's like this town has an umbrella over it. People were heading through six-eight inches of the stuff right up until a mile or two before here and then blam, it stops.
Still, we've got some now, not much, but at least it's some

There is a call for some deep snow here on the eastern seaboard of the US this weekend. I will believe it when I see it.

I agree with AVGWarhawk, I think that what you mean depends on temperature.

The first snow of end november/early december looks like pictures in Oberon's post #63, it's cute & romantic, but when it gets colder it looks like more my previous post (#59).

Pics in my previous post had been taken in early march 2008, it was a record year, that winter we had more than 500 cm of snow.. but usually it's around 325 cm.

I can assure you someday I'll be able to afford a 10 days escape in the caribbean.

Another one, look they're drowning!

We in D.C. are going to get NAILED with 14-20 inches/ .35-.50 M. of snow over this weekend.

So far we have about 10 inches, they are saying we will have between 16 and 20 by morning. I live out a good ways - which I love - but with that much snow - thawing and refreezing - I will be lucky if I can get out monday.
