(By the way Jimbuna, where whould you guess that picture of U 108 was taken, it appears to be sinking, and not in a good submarine way)
AFAIR the boat was being trimmed for decks awash prior to commencing a patrol.

Here's a few from my family collection. One or two were bought in a antique fair, the rest was heritage

Trouble is, knowing what u-boat that is...:hmm:
The next one has a curious legend paper

the legend:

"Schmal, schlank und schneidig, mit niedriger silhouette, jagen und pirschen unsere u-boote im Atlantik nach dem feind.
19.2.42 Pk/G H 5219 Wb FZ
Pk-Aufnahme-Kriesgsberichter: Buchheim (Wb)"

Google translated to:
"Narrow, slim and dashing, with a low silhouette, hunt and stalk our submarines in the Atlantic after the enemy.

Pk recording Kriesgsberichter: Buchheim" Well, the subsimers that know German may have a better translation.

Decided to break the thread in two, so that it would not became to "heavy". Continuation:

"German U-boats in base of the Arctic Sea" acording to the portuguese inscription of the pic:hmm: .

I think thats a type IX boat.

Now, who are this kaleuns?hmmmm:hmm:

Now one of my favorites and it's a pitty the state that's in, but somethings one can not control...

The inscription is: "The u-boat bow, the greatest enemy of anglo-american ships"!
