Hi Mr Anvart,

I remember your excellent work on SH3, now your at it again with SH4 great mod re air search radar antennae, I wonder if the sme can be achieved for the radio direction finder on older subs and for the sea search radar as well.

A warning though, just because your at radar depth dont assume ASW aircraft cannot see you, I got blasted at radar depth, saved the boat but lost diesle engines, surfaced but couldnt move, engines destroyed, eventually sunk by later air attack.

Interesting that I had two diesle engines destroyed but another two were fine yet the boat was dead in the water, I couldnt use the remaining two engines, is this true to life or is this something that can be fixed.

Regards

The game only recognizes two engines. Based on two engines in the uboats from SH3.

For SD radar you must use periscope depth ... (close) enemy will mark you visually (may be) ...
For SJ radar you must use radar depth ... (close) enemy will mark you visually or (far) by radar detector (may be) ...
Radar depth (SnorkelDepth in NSS_***.cfg) for example for Gato Class =~13...11.5 m ...

I might have to work this into the last TM version. :hmm:
My thoughts exactly for RFB

I've tried this mod in my carreer (Sargo, 1943 with radar) and with the Balao in a schoolmission.
But I cannot get it to work.

When I go to periscope depth, press shift X.
The radar mast goes up, but that's it.. nothing happens.

No contact, when I go to radar depth or whatch thru my scope.
There are plenty contacts.

Am I doing something wrong?

When you go to peri depth and raise SD antenna you will have the message Radar contact if planes will be within the limits of action range of your SD radar ...

It's the SD search radar..
Not the surface radar.

Thanks Anvart,

You know what this mod would be great for? Making a Guppy converted Balao! They had fully retractable radar (as well as snorkles)... Admittedly it's out of the time period, but I still think it would be an awesome project.

I'm having troubles with this mod, I extend the mast and run under water, but my radar station doesn't show any sign of activity.
I go to the 'radar'-man station and try using it but nothing works. Havn't had any airplane circle overhead yet, but still...

am I doing something wrong?

Dear Quacker, as (i think) you have already read through, it's SD radar antenna.
In game SD radar works automatically and has no displays.

The latest Trigger Maru has SD Mast toggle set as Key T. That will toggle it up or down.

If you don't like toggles you can set a key for Down and one for Up by editing the commands file (If you are comfortable doing this) Just set the snorkel up or snorkel down commands to keys and away you go.
