I'm not so sure about that either, they did publish 688, and Sub Command after all and this (although really not my cup of tea) looks pretty much like a true simulator to me
I'm only busting on EA because of what they did with NASCAR when they bought the rights, putting Papyrus out of business. Papyrus had a simulation. EA purchased the rights from NASCAR, putting Papyrus out of business, even preventing them from continuing to sell their program. Then EA proceeded to produce an arcade game with soap opera fluff to make it "more exciting." Here we are four years later and the Papyrus sim is still vastly superior. Just ask Denny Hamlin.

Fantasy break!
So after Ubi brands us as crybaby losers who can't turn a profit for them, EA comes out with the next subsim:

Ahhhh...GPL....what a great game that was...actually is, its still going strong with a brilliant modding community. I think I might even fire it up this weekend, you can almost taste the burning rubber as you side slide out of the bends

I just needed to be sure that UBI was really working on 1.4, so I called. They were very nice and told me they were indeed working on a 1.4 patch. They had no information on the contents of the patch nor were they able to give any time frame. I spoke with Fred and he indicated that they were aware of the major issues. I thanked Fred for his time and for providing the infomation. It was a very friendly and cordial call. This was only my second call to UBI since I bought the game, so I don't think they were trying to blow me off. Looks like all the rumors were true.

Not that I don't believe you... certainly good news an all.

Did Fred happen to have any insight as to why it's not mentioned somewhere on the Ubi website? ...er you just didn't think to ask.

My experience with call center techs in general has been that I'm not exactly dealing with folks at the pinnacle of their career so to speak. Personally, I've only dealt with the Ubi-techs in reference to Starforce... once... and that was enough for me. (please no SF follow-up commentaries, too painful... I still mourne the passing of my Sony drive)

No, the only info he had was what I just reported above. I did ask. but he had no idea. He sounded like he was reading from a memo and when I asked the first question he gave me the answer right away, less than 3 seconds, so it must have been right in front of him. He was very pleasant and I did not feel comfortable with trying to interrogate him. It's not my style. As I said, it was a friendly call and he seemed busy. I got my answers, thanked him and ended the call.

So if one does not show up then there will be no big disappointment? None for me either. Just a great bonus.

And here, I thought TM 1.6 WAS version 1.4 of SHIV... It fixed just about everything I wanted fixed... Ubi needs to pay Ducimus for his work and import it into the "official" 1.4.
