The warship I fear the most is the one that finds me! Period.

I also fear a warship that is capable of detecting me even though I have forced my boat down as deep as I dare.

I guess since my play style is to constantly raid harbors, my fear of DDs and the like has been considerably subdued. I ALWAYS preset my torps to fire in order to keep me ready as I enter the harbor. That preset is to have them run at the shallowest setting, impact pistons, and whatever their fastest speed is.

To be honest, the only time I've had a problem is when I DON'T preset my torps.

The trick I've found, and it works in GWX or vanilla, is to actually give myself away to the enemy. That way, if the seas are calm enough, and they are within a 270 degree arc of bow, I can nail them with impunity. That is because, for whatever reason, any vessel with ASW will charge towards my position, and ALWAYS in a straight line.
Then I just adjust depth, switch to magnetic piston, and fire.

It's shocking how simple it can be at times.

This is exactly why I don't raid harbours...

well the Hunt class can be a right pain as well only a small DD but they seem to have some uber equipment/crew. i have encountered a few of em in the past even submerged, silent running and 2knts 1941ish and they still pick me up from a fair distance and they dont give up at all. i personally havent had any bother from flower class or black swans either, i have had 3 of em on me before and had no bother evading them. get down to at least 160m and the DC dont seem to ever reach me after that i just sneak away changing course slightly every 5mins or so.
