Three approaches against a convoy during same night. All thwarted by escorts before making to reasonable (3000m) firing distance from the convoy.

Installed War Ace Campaign 4.1 on a fresh install of SH3 and after 45 minutes of troubleshooting because of the loading screens and main menu not showing up I now managed to leave the submarine pen in Kiel only to encounter some unspecified but well-reproducible CTD shortly after turning NE on the Kieler Förde. Every time I try this again...

LOL Subhuman. I had the same experience. I crippled the Rodney with a well placed eel into her engines. Figuring her guns to be dead I surfaced and fired off a farewell spread of two more. She was listing starboard at the time, I figured her 16" guns couldn't get me. How wrong I was. Copped a salvo into my boat and survived barely. My damage control team worked a miracle to get my boat back to France.

Forgetting to shift around your crew, forgetting them in the torpedo room for a day and finding them exhausted when you need them the most.

Well, at least you had some ships in your sight... :/ I just found a C2 Cargo, single ship, no escorts whatsoever. First thought: easy prey, take him. Calculated an interception course, got my boat aligned at periscope depth, stopped and waited. He took his time, but since patience usually pays off... Then, while I was taking some last measurements to cross-check with my earlier calculations and refine my torpedo solution, the ship literally disappeared in my periscope sight as if it had suddenly been sucked by an invisible fog cloud. So much for the easy prey... |

Nope, first convoy encountered of first patrol of a new career. I had enough time to get the screen shot before the next round killed me. Had to surface after 3 wasserbomben (boom boom hoochie woochie) knocked me around real hard. Thought they were supposed to let you surrender.

The game doesn't - if the boat dies, you die.
But SH3 Commander will let you alter the record outside the game: Quote:

Ran into a torpedo net.
Found out I had missed the gap by a few meters.

Crawling along at 90 meters in a damaged Type IX-B when a depth charge explodes near enough to cause the 3 stern compartments to start flooding.
