A question to the gurus: is it possible to integrate the guns in the ship .dat (instead of a library) and make it work?
I've been trying it in the Aigle so the guns use the same textures as the rest of the ship and don't look odd as different skins are used. Visually perfect, but the guns don't work properly. They train towards the target, but never shoot... |

Did you place the guns sim information in the units sim file? |

Yes, I did. Right now in the .sim file there are the funnel controllers, the turret controllers, the ship controller and the 5 main gun controllers.
Next thing I will try will be moving the obj_Turret and the wep_Cannon controllers inside each M0X node in the .dat instead of the .sim file. |

You may need to place the sim controllers inside the dat file itself.
I know I have done that for SH3 and had good results. |

Silly me, the guns were firing, but I forgot to add the flash to the gun .
I just realised after changing the wpn_cannon controller to the .dat, but I suspect that it was working before. Sorry for the inconvenience . |

Hello JapLance
Once again a great Ship from your shipyard. A real enrichment for SH4. Thank you for your work. |

Thank you Volta
Just uploaded a new version of the Aigle. Now the torpedo tubes are also in the main model (instead of an external library) and share the same colour as the rest of the ship. The links have been changed. By the way, Volta, I think you may like this: I got it from Delta_Strife. He asked for some of my models to use them in one of the Civilization games, and he sent me this in exchange. I'm not very familiar with the E-class cruisers, but it looks quite accurate. I cannot promise that she will be released soon, but I'll do my best to see her sailing the SH seas. Last edited by JapLance; 07-13-13 at 03:26 PM. |

Hello JL, at the first glance, that model of HMS Emerald looks promissing. If you do not feel for doing the whole weaponry, drop me a PM

Hello JapLance
This is great news. The model of the Cruiser looks really good. There's no hurry, i have every confidence in you and your shipyard. |

Hi the_frog,
it may be a long time before I put some effort into this model, but feel free to add some new weapons to that wonderful UK gun library of yours . |

Today I've given a bump to one of my oldest projects. I started it for the British Mediterranean Campaign project, but didn't like it and was discarded. Later on I returned to her, re-made it almost from scratch, and has been in my HD for a long time.
Tomorrow I will start some testing and fire a few of torpedoes at her to check her reaction . Also spent some time toying with Gerome_73 line of County cruisers, and came up with that: She's HMS Cornwall, which was virtually unchanged from the start of WW2 until the moment of her sinking in April 1942. This model could also represent HMS Berwick up to mid-1942. It was made combining the flushdeck hull of the Norfolk model with the big hangar in the Cumberland model and then a few more polys from me to change the deck where the secondary guns were (all the guns are by the_frog). Masts also have a few changes, and the textures are from the_frog pack for SH3 (hope you don't mind). |

Hello JP!
no, I do not mind Gerome73s early models have certain submodels without face separation/edge splitting. You can see the effect on the funnels. Consider to treat those submodels accordingly; that will improve the rendering. The Capitani Romani class looks good. |
