They set some ships to False for this to take them out of the rec manual. If it's not in the .cfg file it's in one of those that are editable with notepad.
TDW is correct you need to change the value from showinrecmanual=False to showinrecmanual=True. Its due to ships being clones of others .
You'll find the line in each ships cfg file.
For example the Carl Peters is in:
C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\data\Sea\NAGP_CarlPeters\NAGP_CarlPeters.cfg

Mithrandir made a good discovery. If you're still not getting automatic mast height entries try playing the game with admin rights. If he used his regular account his mast heights were always wrong but if he used admin rights his automatic mast heights were working correctly.

I have had problems too - the account I usually use does not have admin rights. WIth SH5 and a number of other programs that require it I use the 'Run As' option and chose the Admin account rather than actually logging in as Admin.

If anyone else is doing this make sure you change the cfg file in Admin - My Documents\SH5\data\cfg\main.cfg to have:

[DEVELOPING]
Modding=Yes
MenuEditor=Yes
DebugScripts=Yes

I believe it is this one that will be used rather than that in the 'my documents' associated with your standard account.

it should still access the files under your standard account. You are just elevating the window's privileges of the game to Admin rights when you select RunAs-->Administrator

Default Mast Height in 7.5.0 stand by 20m

Hi,

First: Thank your for your awsome mods but
I have a problem with the automatic mast heigths in SH5 too. I'm using "NewUIs_TDC" mod version 7.5.0. I'vre read the note to run the game as admin. But nothing worked for me. My steps so far:

- Installed game from DVD
- Patch 1.2.0
- installed JSGME
- replaced menu.txt. in your mod for german language
- enabled mod
- started game as admin
- loaded savegame where I'm standing in a konvoi to test the mast height
- not working. The mast height is always 20m

My PC:
- Windows 8.1 Pro
- i5 4570
- Gainward nVidia GTX 760
- 8 GB RAM
