:hmm: Probably it's not the way I got the issue, as on the patrol it happened I hadn't fired any torpedo nor shell AFAIR, so there was no reason to use 'I' screen. So probably it's not the only way the TDC could get unsynchronized.
Okay... I will keep my eyes open, as ever, for more ways to replicate the problem.

What's that, exactly? :hmm:
I thought he meant that the inner, non-rotating part of your compass shows a ring of marks labelled 0 to 9, rather than marks related to degrees, as found on the rotating outer part of the compass.

Being aeronautically minded rather than nautically minded, I have no idea what the use of the marks are on a scale of 0-9, or how to use them (part of the reason I added back in the large sliding compass from the default GWX installation). If they went from 1 to 12 I'd use them like pilots do - "bandit at 2 o'clock. On the horizon, funnily enough" Still rather pointless for a U-boat crew though!

Anybody care to explain what they're for?

Looking forward to 1.2, btw

Okay, this bug just got promoted from odd to downright bizarre. I've never had it happen once - in quite a lot of play - until today when I worked out the torpedo loading screen thing, but even then it was only because I was testing something else in that screen and suddently thought, I wonder if that bug could be caused by... :hmm: and clicked the TDC switch to find out.

Well... thanks for the info... I guess I'll update the 1st post with the alt+tab suggestion, just in case anyone else finds that works.

It looks like you are right. I didn't read his sentence right. He said inner-disc and compass, so that should have made something tick in my head but didn't. Oh well, it was late as usual.

About those 0-9 marks. I don't see how to use is the way it is now. But if some extra marks are added to the rotating compass wheel (and if the radius is big enough to show propperly) it could be used as a vernier scale (wiki) allowing to measure course upto the 1 degree. Maybe it is intended that way by the devs, but then it is certainly broken. There are no marks opposite to it. And it is also useless now since OLC provided a linear compass scale that also allows you to estimate the fraction of degree your uboot is on. Way better IMHO.

Oh, the 0-9 numbers on the compass!

Yeah, I think that's very odd... but... that's what you see on the actual compass in the (3D) command room (in GWX) so I just used it. *shrug*

The 1-9 marks help when you're trying to turn to a correct bearing using the scope, or if your contact is in a position where the hydrophone doesnt pick him up anymore *shrug*

There was a link to a mod for it from Wazoo's site, but the link is dead now, and I dont know if its compatable with your GUI anyway.

A little help please.

Anyone know which subfolder of the Sea folder contains the Medium Tanker? My windows file search isn't working (probably one of the services I disabled needs to be turned back on...

I never noticed it in the command room - I only remember the stock SH3 compass which had fixed degree markers on the inner part, and moving degree markers on the outer part. I wondered where OLC had had the 0-9 scale from - since he implemented it I thought it was for a reason, and didn't realise it came from an existing part of the boat in the game already.

Even if it was meant to be a vernier scale, the linear scale is far more useful anyway

Edit: The Medium Tanker is in the "NECT" folder as far as I can tell. Hope that helps!

Hi OLC. Will respond to your file query after a bit of sleep.

It was already mentioned by other members now, yes, I mean the "0"-"9"-labeled fixed disc in the middle of the compass. I really wanted to have a 0-360° in ten degrees disc for bearings, because I'm used to it...

Default 1.2.0 now available!

Here's a list of the changes in this version:
  • Completely darkened GUI. I've gone over the entire thing with a fine tooth comb and adjusted everything. The only "side effect" is that when in port the barracks screen and parts of the torpedo loading screen will be darkened. Strictly speaking this was avoidable but the inordinate amount of work required to "fix" it is just not worth it, especially as the screens in question still work fine and are rarely seen anyways.
  • Fixed a bug which caused the TDC auto-update switch to go "out of sync" with the dials panel if it was clicked with either the torpedo loading screen or the gun ammo screen open.
  • Reworked cameras.dat so that all cameras (except for the UZO, the scopes, and the binocs) are back to normal GWX 2.0 settings.
  • GWX navmap nomograph replaced with a new, draggable one.
  • Navmap draggable depth tool colours redone from scratch (much easier to match the colours now).
  • Moon icon appears on navmap at night time.
  • Range/AOB Finder replaced with the U-Jagd 1.3 version.
  • Fixed mast height of Medium Tanker - now set to 62, which is double the height from the waterline to the top of the flag.
Umm... that's all I can remember.

This version invloved quite a lot of file and code changes so keep an eye out for problems and please report any you find, large or small.

Enjoy!

OLC
