The times your car will be stratched, bumped, hail battered or simply be in the wrong place at the wrong time is inveresly proportional to how much you actually care about your car.

My friend has a Honda Civic, every centimeter repaired into mint condition with upgraded engine, exhaust and suspension, gets hit by something every month.
My mother has a new KIA Sportage, 2 hail storms destroyed the roof and a strong wind once ripped the door off.
I have a French rustbucket that I don't even bother cleaning. Not one scratch since I bought it in January and for those that know how I drive that's a bloody miracle.
