When fact gets overruled by fiction. A nice story that not only tells its point, but also illustrates the general mod of German mental state. Der Spiegel should have the world's biggest fact-checking department in business, it is claimed: https://archives.cjr.org/behind_the_...rgest_fact.php I have a very two-folded attitude towards Der Spiegel. They often seem to have the facts right - but then give them an interpretational twist and bias by not differentiating between fact report and opinion piece, and also by meddling the news telling with emotional arousal and sentimental outrage. Entertainment - and wanted politicial correctness, especially in its left-leaning interpretation - trump sober documentation. And that is the death sentence for serious journalism. The main intention of the liar seem to have been to "reveal" the rawness of America: https://translate.google.de/translat...3DprintPreview ---- I do not pay for web newspapers, and I never will, like I never buy paper newspapers. Serious journalism is a dying thing, and I am already pissed that I must pay for the political parties' propaganda platforms ARD and ZDF even if I do not consume them. The Federal Constitutional cynically so-called "Court" recently has ruled that the fact that these broadcasters live by enforced taxes that are not called taxes is what allows them to meet the competition . That they get this money anyway and no matter their low quality but high pensions schemes, is the main reason why both ARD and ZDF as a matter of fact can avoid market competition, the jesters court has deliberately denied, claiming exactly the roppposite. This can only be explained by a deep-rooting socialist attitude grown in German m,entlaity - and the fact that repeatedly judges and high ranking directors at b oth TV stations were coming from same families so that no two crows hack each others eyes - or damage each other' interests.

You hope.
(I mean Steed) ![]() What is true is that growth is a bit less than last year, with only 1,5 percent. (However one defines "groth", and who actually did the statistics) With the UK getting out of the EU a recession here would not come as a surprise, of course.

Also, minding you, cars are incredibly important for Germany, while digital modernization and communicaiton is somehtign where Germany is not even of avergae standard, but is almst a development country. At the same time, the war on cars has been declared. Like so many other most essential and vitla things get intentionally destroyd and boruight down, Germany now works on deindustrilaising itself, namely car industry and energy. No other country has such a high quota of workers employed in it slow wage sector (over one quarter - even in the times of booming the low wage sector has fastly grown). Our infrastructure is crumbling, our railroad since so long time has been run in attrition mode that the problems now are so monumental that it is in doubt that they could ever be resolved anymore. The economic powerhouse of Germany under Merkel has been systemtically abused and maitained in conumation mode. No reserves have been build, and the facade of success was held up at the cost of the employees and workers - thoes eemployees and workers that now are hreatened to pay even more taxes to finance the immense deficits thet mismanagement of the past has caused. Most business and branches and companies are bearish since late spring last year over here. The developmnent for the worse is slow, but notorious and constant. Yes, most likely we slide into recession. In the end, the Germn economy model is stupid to the max. It gives other countries a lot of money more or less for free - so that these countries with that money should buy German products. We do not produce for net profits that way. We deceive ourselves. Germany is no strong economy, i say that since years and years. When an economy is so hopelessly depending on foreign factors and on exports like germany, it is an economy that is extremely weak, depending, and helpless. And such adjectives do not describe a strong economy, but one that is extremely vulnerable. An economy with a high level of autarcy and the reswerves that it could sit out times of emergency and decline - that is a striong economy. And do not get me started again about the bilbical ammount of finaicoal risks that threaten Germany over its transfers in support of the Euro. The past couple of years alone the German wealth has lost severl hundred billions of Euros. The story that Germany benefits more from the Euro than it must invest into it, is unsupportable. It simply is wrong, a propaganda lie. But it makes the Germana feel as Mr. Nice Guy, and thats why they like it. Nobody fears the awakening, although everybody has all reason to do so. Instead even more burdens get invited into Germany and onto German shoulders. Maybe there are geniusses understanding the Germans. I as a alienated German myself - I have given up trying to make sense of them. For me they are just psychic cripples, late distorted victims of two lost world wars. They are doomed to have their future defined by this notorious psychic self-mutilation. In other words: forget Germany, history already scratched it off its list of club members.

If the sky happens not to fall for us poor
"german cripples, distorted victims of two world wars mutilating our selves while the world forgetting Germany and history scratching it off its list of club members" (courtesy of Skybird) ![]() a recession is neither sure, nor has it much to do with what Germany does. Expectancy is still at 1,5 percent growth, and the worldwide trade is taking a hit by Trumponomics anyway. https://translate.google.com/transla...D2dgu9aoNK-ap2 Each currency is bound to fall one day, nothing can be done to stop it with so-called capitalist systems. Inflation is only one trigger, and worldwide trade relativating the real value of any material goods is another. But it is nice as long as it works, and for Europe it does since 73 years. Crash ahead? Sure one day, but not anytime soon.

Or is it pure coincidence she is soon to be leaving the stage? |

Merkel lived of a reserve that was build before her. She managed growing deficits, but did nothing to fill reserves up, or to add new reloads. She was heaivly committed to pushing EU obligations through. Last but not least to prevent illusions that Germany depends on to collapse early. They will collapse - after Merkel has gone.
The quality of German school education in eroding since two decades at least. Ever growing numbers of student cannot correctly read, write, or do simple math. But universities are battling over written gender speak and gender-* The rsults of this show in all fields and in all branches, more and more. You reap like you sow. And Germany has sowed messy. We take comfort from listening to ever repeating porpagdna slogans and pltlical ohrases that remind me time and again of the smae langaue that was used on the news broadcasting of the GDR TV, Aktuelle Kamera. Its back on air. The same phrasing, the same use of language. The same empty phrasing, the very vers same phrases. The GDR is not dead. Its live and well, it just changed dresses. Nowhere you can see that clearer than in the poltical perosnnel pool, and the state-run media. There is nothing new under the sun - except what has been forgotten. Forgetting in this case took less than 30 years.

Looking back on history, it would probably have been better that Germany had not been reunited.
At that time, the unique opportunity was lost to completely transform the GDR by means of the peaceful revolution and to shape an alternative way of life and society in a positive sense. This would have protected "Western Europe" from the rage of Putin. Putin is responsible for the nationalist and right-wing developments within Europe, is instrumental in the Brexit of GB and kingmaker of this moron Trump. I can only hope that the current situation will end well for us all, because the farmers are always sacrificed first on the chessboard. ![]() |
