Right, just got OA and BAF. It is conveniently 50% off on Steam and GamersGate right now, if anyone wants to buy it.

Same pricing on Sprocket aswell.
OA is pretty good and provides many long-wanted fixes, even if some of those should really have been there from the beginning. It was so good my other X1950 Pro gave up and started giving BSODs, leaving me unable to run the game properly. Time to go shopping :-) |

Arma's pretty cool but it's even better if you get the Warfare Benny Edition mod. Adds in a ton of stuff into Warfare multiplayer mode as well as incorporates Arma2, OA and BAF together so you can use EVERYTHING on any of the Warfare maps included with the BE version. It also has a wide variety of customization options. Probably the most played mod for Arma2 next to ACE.
And yes Arclight, there is .338 Lapua in the game. You need to the BAF DLC though which usually runs I think $4-9. |

No BAF DLC needed for. 338, at least for me it came with BAF(Light), which came with OA or one of its patches. The British sights are incredibly badly made btw, just unbelievable how they let that kind of crap out.

Right, after a not-so-extensive research I decided to get a non-factory-overclocked Nvidia 460 GTX based card with 768mb of memory. It sells for 150€ at my local shop, the cheapest price I could find anywhere on this continent. Depending on the exact stock situation I might also pick up a 1024mb version(169€) when I go there tomorrow.
Any comments or experiences? |

Gigabyte 1GB 460 here. Lovely card; cool as a breeze (runs as hot under load as my old card in idle), easy on the PSU and scores high on performance. Quiet too, thanks too the custom cooler. Factory OC without price increase (yay Gigabyte) and can go a lot further with little effort. Quite a nice step up from an G92 8800GTS.
![]() I say go with the 1GB model. There's more difference than just the amount of memory: the 768MB model has more of the core disabled. It's more like a GTX455 than a 460.

Core 2 Quad Q6600 and Palit GF 460 GTX Sonic 1gb ordered. If they both work it'll be a hell of an Arma experience compared to what I'm used to
![]() An SSD is next on the list, after which my PC's MLU is complete. |

Anyone else have trouble with with the Cannon portion of the Attack Helicopter training in OA?
My gunner would kill 2 out of the 3 targets and then refuse to kill the 3rd. I tried different angles of attack, switching before Fire/hold fire, switching weapons, hovering near the targets, flying at different levels, locking onto the target and telling him to fire, etc. Even loaded the save 5-6 times(2-3 of those where because I crashed and or flew into something). On my last try, he opens fire again killing 2 of the 3 yet again. And then 30 seconds later the 3rd one randomly exploded. I wasn't going to complain.

Light versions are lesser version of the DLC so all versions can co-mingle. They mention that you get a low res model. Will have to check, but if you actually get the DLC I believe the quality is better. Edit: Also I'm running the game at a steady 40-50FPS on my computer. ![]()

I noticed since the last patch that most of the LOD texture loading issues I've had until now are gone, which was probably my greatest problem with ArmA II. The game is still a bit sluggish at certain points, but the performance is definitely much better now than it used to be.

Haha
![]() Just ran Arma2 with the GTX 460 for the first time, and I'm a happy camper now. The performance was absolutely stunning compared to the crossfired X1950 Pros, and all this with the old CPU. The new GPU is also a lot quieter and runs cooler than the previous two cards. Can't wait for the quad-core to arrive... Anyone up for some games later tonight? Preferably with Arma2+OA with ACE+ACEX, if you guys have the mods. If not vanilla will do fine too. |

Is nice, eh? Love that 460.
![]() Got the game installed with OA, no BAF yet (bought but not downloaded yet). And it's vanilla; haven't really gotten around playing it yet, so ACE is still on the todo list.
