The UK government says the first dose of a Covid vaccine has been given to half the country's adults.
Health Secretary Matt Hancock says more people received a jab on Friday than on any previous day. A UK government adviser says it is "extremely unlikely" that Britons will be taking foreign holidays this summer. The UK faces a "real risk" if people are allowed to travel overseas in July and August, Dr Mike Tildesley says. France and Poland have reintroduced partial lockdowns as both countries battle a sharp rise in Covid infections in recent weeks. Some 21 million people in 16 areas of France, including the capital Paris, are affected as the country fears a third wave. Non-essential shops, hotels, cultural and sporting facilities in Poland are closed for three weeks. Sir John Bell says the changing advice from French officials was undermining confidence in the whole vaccination programme. The UK reported 4,802 new Covid cases on Friday, and 101 deaths. More than 26 million Britons have received their first vaccine dose. |

![]() I would be interested to know which state these people he's talking too live in that are saying vaccinations and booking is a mess. Here in Maryland knowing whose eligible, vaccination locations, and the ability to book appointments appear to working very well. Again, it's not Biden or the "United States". Its the individual State which is responsible for developing carrying out a distribution plan. These people he's in contact with complaining need to contact their local STATE authority to find out what the problem is. ... each state, tribe, and territory develops its own plan for deciding which groups of people will be vaccinated first and following groups.

PM Boris Johnson says Saturday was a record day for UK coronavirus vaccinations, with more than 800,000 people jabbed.
Defence Secretary Ben Wallace says booking a holiday now would be "premature" and "potentially risky" "We are not going to do anything which puts at risk this national effort to control this pandemic," Wallace tells the BBC's Andrew Marr. Shadow Foreign Secretary, Labour's Lisa Nandy, says she will not be booking a foreign holiday. The boss of Australian airline Qantas predicts "governments are going to insist" on vaccines for international travellers. Covid restrictions such as social distancing and wearing a mask could last for years, Dr Mary Ramsay of Public Health England says. In Miami Beach police declared a state of emergency as they struggle to control large crowds of people gathering for Spring Break. German Chancellor Angela Merkel is planning to extend the country's partial lockdown into April, according to documents seen by AFP |

Boris Johnson is expected to speak to his EU counterparts this week as a row over Covid vaccine supplies continues.
EU leaders will hold a virtual meeting on Thursday to discuss a ban on Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine exports to the UK - but the PM aims to put the UK's case in one-on-one phone calls before that. The European Commission president says the EU can "forbid" vaccines made on the continent being sent to the UK. But a government minister said it was crucial the EU honours its commitments. Downing Street said European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen told Mr Johnson earlier this year that the EU was not intending to restrict exports of vaccines. Helen Whately, health and social care minister, urged the EU to stand by this commitment and warned against "vaccine nationalism and protectionism". The latest flashpoint appears to be over doses made in a Dutch factory. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-56479814 |

This coming just of all from the UK is "a bit" rich.
As said before.

The UK reports 17 Covid deaths on Monday - the lowest daily figure since late September.
Almost 28 million people have now had a first dose of a vaccine. But a third wave of Covid in Europe is likely to "wash up" on UK shores, the prime minister warns. EU leaders will hold a virtual meeting on Thursday to discuss a vaccine exports and supply. Health minister Lord Bethell says it’s possible the UK might have to put all its European neighbours on the 'red list' from which entry to the UK is banned. The long-awaited US trial of the Oxford-AstraZeneca jab confirms the shot is both safe and highly effective. India records 260,000 fresh cases in a week - one of the worst increases since the pandemic began early last year. The opposition presidential candidate in Congo-Brazzaville, who was seriously ill with Covid-19, dies hours after polls close. |
