wolf_howl15 Here ya go Neal...

Outfit yourself with one of these...

Be sure to have enough cash saved up to pay for it outright because banks are unforgiving when it comes to overdue truck loan payments. Usually caused by a broker that leaves you stranded in California with no return load in sight. My dear old dad, God rest his soul, found that out the hard way.

Haha, Lot Lizard, eh? So far, I've only encountered two of them... and my gawd, they couldn't give that away. Poor gals, they looked awful

Yeah, if I do get a truck, I will buy it outright and have plenty in reserve for maintenance. I still need to do a lot of research on makes and models. I'm pretty sure I will be getting something along the 2011-2012 line, since that's what I have been driving. Something like this one I will be having a look at next week.

I concur on the rough looking nature of lot Lizards but, it's not the gal you really need to worry about. It's the thugs she has in tow nearby that will ruin your evening.
Not that I ever partook of those fruits to gain firsthand knowledge. Just alert situational awareness.

Only twice did I need to reply with a polite "No thank you"

Now, if you do buy that fine looking tractor, I'd consider leasing out to one of the bigger freight haulers. CRST for one and maybe hire on a co-driver. You can bank mad cash running team and never run out of hours.

Yah, the first time I encountered a LL: I was sleeping, and someone knocked on the door. Now, with me,

1. Any knock on the door is BAD news--someone wants me to move my truck, I cannot park here, etc.

2. Wakes me up! WTH!

3. The knocking sound itself always seems amplified, like the crack of doom.

So, first time it happened, I bolted up from a nice sleep, really pissed, stuck my head out the curtain--WHAT?!

"Hi honey, it's cold out here, can I come in and warm up?"
What? No! Beat it! Go AWAAAY!

Man! in my day there was a BIG rule: no knockin' unless rhe driver was up/awake or you were asked to leave by the truck stop manager. Has that changed? I only got approached once in pouring storm on PA I 80) Stroudsburg in a Union 76 I had just pulled into. She was drenched to the bone and it was 2AM and I was mounting a reefer strawberrys Semi-attack on lower Manhattan's produce market, NYC, across Jersey to the the George Washington Bridge in 2 hours so no thanks BBY...

The truck drivers of the company I used to work for had a trick to avoid that when going to the Czech Republic (it was pretty bad there a couple of years ago). Just take a handkerchief, dip it in some water and drop it next to your front tire. You'll be left alone.

Just plain old water? Not lizard repellent?
How did that work exactly?

When the hooker sees the wet handkerchief she'll think that driver has already had his fun for that day.
